Last month, Capcom announced that Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 would be launching on Xbox One. The game is a compendium of Mega Man games, and brings together for the first time Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8, Mega Man 9, and Mega Man 10.
Today, they’ve released four short recap videos – one for each game – to remind us of which ones we can look forward to replaying in the not-too-distant future.
Mega Man 7 released in 1995 on the Super Nintendo, and looks the classic 16-bit part. This game requires you to defeat 4 opening stages to then unlock a later 4, and looks to carry on the series tradition of nails-hard unforgiving platforming gameplay.
Mega Man 8 was the Blue Bomber’s first foray onto 32 bit systems (Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn), and features a cool anime style story – check out the video below:
Mega Man 9 was released a decade later in 2008 and returns to the 8-bit graphic style of the earlier games and features Proto Man as a playable character. It also returns to the old tried and tested mechanic of defeating a level boss and being able to take their weapon, which you can then use to exploit a weakness in one of the other bosses – part of the fun is working out which order to tackle the levels in.
The most recent Mega Man release in this collection is Mega Man 10, which was released in 2010 – in spite of it looking like an 8-bit NES game. Proto Man returns in this episode too, along with other playable characters. It also features a boss called ‘Sheep Man’ – what more could we ask for?!?
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be available on 10th August 2017.
