For the past week rumours have been flying around that a certain other console could be getting an updated version and this has set the internet alight. At last the head of Xbox Phil Spencer has come out and addressed the issue from an Xbox perspective. And the good news is that it would take something “really substantial” to force Xbox to introduce an interim console.
“I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers.” said Mr. Spencer. “I don’t know anything about any of the rumors that are out there, but I can understand other teams’ motivations to do that. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people – an upgrade.”
This should be good news for Xbox fans, it means that we won’t be forced to shell out the price for a new console. It does nothing, however, to put to bed the other rumours that have been circulating regarding any future Xbox consoles. From the point of view of the Xbox, Microsoft seem very happy with where the Xbox is currently at.
