So one of the biggest surprises at E3 was the new IP ReCore, an Xbox One Exclusive, the teaser trailer at E3 depicted a young woman with a robot dog walking through a desert exploring or searching for something when they are attacked by giant robot spider things. From this alone i was hooked, very much looking to finding out more.
Well today i can tell you that more details have emerged online! Thanks to an interview with creator and director on Xbox’s YouTube channel. Some of the stuff we already know about ReCore is that it is from Megaman creator Keiji Inafune in partnership with Armature Studios.
Anyway, you’re here for the new stuff so lets jump right in!
First of all the young woman in the teaser is called Jewel and the Robot dog is called Mack, these two have a special relationship as Mack found Jewel at the beginning of the game. The planet which they are on is inhabited by very few humans and Mack is a robot “companion” part of a faction which is trying to bring back humanity to the planet. The Robot spiders however, don’t want this to happen. In the interview we’re told that the enemies get harder as we go underground and explore these places and that one of the coolest things, at least in my opinion, is that after a sandstorm the environment changes, affecting the maps being played.
As the game progresses we will find new enemies and new companions. During the teaser we see Mack destroy the spiders with some sort of self destruct mode, however the blue glowing orb or his “Core” remains intact, you then see Jewel transfer this core to the other robot, apparently Mack’s conscience is contained in that core and so when Jewel implants in the robot slumped by a giant door, Mack has a beasty upgrade.
Apparently the main focus of the game is how is Jewel, a girl who has been alone for most of her life, apart from Mack, going to survive? Well i don’t know but damn straight im going to find out, cant wait for ReCore!
Well don’t just take my word for it, watch the video yourself and let us know what you think.
ReCore is due for release Spring 2016
What did you think of the E3 teaser? Do you think you’re going to buy the game?
