Scalebound Cancellation: Platinum Games Statement Released

The silence has ended from Platinum Games, regarding this weeks news that Microsoft have pulled the plug for Xbox One Exclusive Scalebound. However, it might not be the answers we are looking for with no explanation, despite an apology.

Kenichi Sato, Platinum Games Chief Executive stated that the studio is “very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.”

Scalebound director, Hideki Kamiya tweeted saying “Sorry to bring you such bad news at the start of the year. All I can do for you is to promise to keep delivering fun games.

“I’ll work extra hard to never have to let you down like this again, so I hope you will keep watching over us in the future too.”

The statement also referenced that Platinum still has three other projects in the works. Nier: Automata, Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link and Lost Order.

Whilst an apology is all well and nice, surely those of us that were looking forward to the game deserve a bit more transparency with a clearer explanation. We can speculate to the cows come home, but we may never know the real reasons behind the cancellation.

If you can bear it, take a look at the E3 2015 trailer below.
