Is A Classic SEGA Franchise Coming To The Xbox One?

We’re jumping aboard the Wishful Thinking bus right off the corner of Speculation Boulevard right now!

It would appear that games aren’t announced via the usual methods these days. If it’s not leaked online or outed by a Taiwanese ratings board, it’ll be the registered domain names. Chief culprit at the moment is SEGA Europe, who have registered multiple domain names for a “Shenmue HD”.

The domains, which include “shenmuehd.com” and “shenmueremastered.com”, are perhaps the most solid evidence yet regarding Shenmue HD, but how does that concern Xbox? Shenmue 3 hasn’t been confirmed for Xbox One, despite legions of fans crying out for it to become a reality.

However, the domain names don’t reveal whether or not it would be Shenmue 1 as a standalone remaster, or include Shenmue 2. Crucially, Shenmue 2 was ported to the Xbox, not the Playstation, so there is a glimmer of hope there, however small it might be.

Personally, I think it makes sense to release the game on Xbox One, or even Project Scorpio. Whether the HD update is real or not remains to be seen, but the chances of looking for sailors in high definition have improved dramatically. What do you make of this? Would you like to see Shenmue come to Xbox One? Let us know in the comments!
