‘Castles’ Is Coming To Xbox One

October 5th will see the arrival of a new action puzzle game on the Xbox store, Castles. An indie collaboration between publisher Badland Games and developer Whoot Games, the aim of the game is simple: build the highest tower in the kingdom, matching blocks of materials and construction tools, whilst facing problems like weather and giant bosses.

A difference between this game and other block puzzle games is that the players don’t control blocks, instead, they control the “engineers”, which makes for a very different game experience. Blocks will fall from above onto the central 5×5 grid, where the player have to push and pull them in order to make combinations. If you complete the level goals, the tower grows taller. As it grows, different challenges in the shape of weather effects or enemies will get in the way.

The game consists of three game modes, Story mode, Survival mode and Versus mode. Story mode consists of a whopping 50 levels where your biggest concerns will be giant bosses and extreme weather. Survival Mode is fairly self-explanatory, you just try to stay alive as long as possible to build the tallest tower you can. And finally, Versus Mode which pits you against a friend as you compete against each other to build the tallest tower – while ambushing them with more blocks than they can handle.

So if Minecraft hasn’t got you blocked out then give this indie puzzle a whirl. And let the battle to tower above your friends begin.
