Xbox had gone from strength to strength since the release of the Xbox One S, this slimmer variation of the Xbox One isn’t just smaller in stature its bigger in quality. The new Xbox One S comes with the 4K ready feature which has revieved some fantastic feedback, but we will let the sales figures talk for themselves.   Of course Xbox also has an Ace still up their sleeves in the shape of the Project Scorpio, this brand new variation of the Xbox One is set to blow the competition out of the water. During a wide-ranging interview with Weekly Famitsu, Phil Spencer was asked about the differences between the upcoming PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio. The Xbox top dog didn’t seem to want to start another battle in the eternal console war, and began by explaining that there’s more to consoles than just throwing out impressively high numbers (or mentioning ‘blast processing’, come to think of it). So while Spencer was more than happy to remind the world that Scorpio’s performance can be discussed in relation to its 6 teraflops, he also believes that the games themselves are going to be a lot … Read More »

Phil Spencer has opened up about Xbox One’s performance in Japan, in an interview with Famitsu magazine. It’s no secret that the Xbox One has performed abysmally in Japan – the launch was pretty embarrassing, with interest levels low and just a handful of consoles sold. A lot of commentators have put that down to various reasons: Mobile gaming is more popular, and Microsoft being a western company, unlike rival Sony have been cited for the poor release. Now Xbox chief, Phil Spencer has discussed why he thinks the console has failed to ignite the East. In a frank exchange, … Read More »

We’re at a very strange phase in this console generation, with the mid-cycle Scorpio and PS4 Pro upgrades dropping shortly. But that doesn’t mean it’s game over for the Xbox One. That’s according to Forza Horizon 3’s creative director, Ralph Fulton, who told the highly respected video games journal tabloid newspaper The Daily Star that there’s life in the original Xbox One yet. He said: How much more can you push out of it [The Xbox One]? I would probably just say don’t give up on Xbox One, just yet. It may be easy to consider the original Xbox One … Read More »

We’ve entered into an era of gaming where we’re relying on launch day patches to fix bugs after production. If you somehow don’t happen to have access to the internet, you’ll be stuck playing a potentially broken game. It’s a glass half-full situation. You can either complain that it’s unacceptable and should have never released ‘unfinished’ or you can see it as a way of constantly improving upon it. The old arcade game Donkey Kong had a Kill-Screen, halting your progress due to memory issues. Only now, there are ways to remedy those particular bugs and Gears of War 4 is no different. … Read More »

The Xbox One S is a pretty cool console, but it seems there’s a slight problem under the bonnet when it comes to movie playback – light-bleeding when playing 4K UHD discs with HDR turned on. You can check out the image below, for an example, courtesy of AV Forums: The issue, which doesn’t appear to affect streaming, but is limited to physical media playback, was first caught by a poster on Reddit. Others joined to say they’d suffered the same issues – particularly on Sony, LG and Vizio TVs. According to one poster there: There seems to be a … Read More »

Since the launch of the Xbox One S, sales have been heavy in Microsoft’s favor and it may continue thanks to some great deals on console bundles. When it launched in the UK towards the beginning of last month, though, its £350 price tag wasn’t exactly accessible. But today, the first One S console bundles (with FIFA 17 included) have launched, lowering the cost of entry to dangerous, impulse-buy territory. Whereas the standalone console has a 2TB HDD, the bundles include boxes with only 500GB or 1TB of storage. But if that’s not a deal-breaker, then you’re in for a … Read More »
