It’s Ubisoft’s time to shine as they take to the stage, with the show kicking off at 9pm UK, 10pm Europe, 1pm in Los Angeles itself, and 4pm if you count the East Coast of North America as home. A gameplay trailer for Rare’s latest, Sea of Thieves, broke the surface at Xbox’s E3 conference, showing off stunning vistas, grog swilling, and high-seas hi-jinks with friends. The actual mechanics and objectives of the game aren’t explained, but the piratical action is fun to watch and promises much. Touted to be Rare’s biggest game to date, Sea of Thieves is still without a release date. There were over 1.6 million unique people playing the recent Gears of War 4 Beta on the Xbox One, Microsoft revealed today during its 2016 NPD announcements. Microsoft has said it expects Gears of War 4 to be the “biggest game of the year” for the company. The beta ran for a total of two weeks in April, though at the start only those who played the Gears of War Ultimate edition were able to play, and finished off on May 1st. Of all the announcements at Xbox’s E3 press conference, perhaps the most surprising of all was the news that the Xbox One is now backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games. It’s true that, for the time being, only Xbox Preview members can access this feature, and only on a small selection of games.
