Major Nelson has always been a voice for Xbox.  When it comes to what’s new and how to improve, it always seems to come from Mr. Larry Hryb.  With uploading and recording becoming such a big part of gaming, he put out some tips to make life easier. There are two Game DVR features that are performance sensitive, and Microsoft has given gamers explicit control over both: background recording and support for full screen games. Both features are controlled in the Game bar settings panel (when you’re in a game, hit Win+G, then click the settings icon to show settings). … Read More »

According to a forum post by The Coalition, a small Xbox One title update will iron out the ‘hitching’ issues some players have experienced in the early part of Gears of War 4  multi-player matches. Hitching is a short period of extreme lag, and this small (218MB) update should solve the problem for Xbox One users. A Title Update will be available for Gears of War 4 today. It seemed inevitable that Gears of War 4 would feature cross-play across all game modes – a fact that was confirmed by Microsoft during their E3 2016 press conference. Only, it turns out that’s not entirely true. With the arrival of the first Play Anywhere title to feature competitive multiplayer, gamers were gearing up to play with and against others on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. After all, cross-platform play is one of the most requested additions in console gaming, with everyone from Rocket League to Final Fantasy getting in on the action. So on the one hand, … Read More »

Alfred Pennyworth said it best in The Dark Knight: “Some men just want to watch the world burn…” The Windows 10 store, including the Xbox One side of things, was recently given the ability to write reviews for different products on the store, pretty much like how Steam or Amazon conducts user reviews. Whilst a useful system in theory, it is actually being used by trolls to both increase and decrease the ratings of upcoming games. The loophole in question allows people to review upcoming games despite having never played them. The rule as it stands only requires you to have … Read More »

VLC has been among one of the most versatile and user friendly media players to use on Windows PC’s.  Xbox One may be next to receive VLC as it has now is UWP and has been placed on the Windows Store. A month ago, we brought you news that Microsoft acquired the interactive livestreaming service, Beam. So it’s virtually self-evident that they would eventually bring the service to their Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and release an app for Xbox One. Beam allows its viewers to interact in new-fangled ways such as allowing the streamer to control certain aspects of a particular game, whilst the viewer may get to control another facet. This feature alone, and the fact that Beam has better technology backing it, makes it a more stable platform than twitch, so we’re undoubtedly convinced that Microsoft are in this for the end-game. Twitch: Get your … Read More »
