Amongst the veritable smorgasbord of AAA titles that occupy todays modern video game market, it's refreshing to see that indie developers are still doing their best to compete with the money infused big boys. A couple of days ago we showed you the brand new trailer for the murder mystery game The Sexy Brutale. Rime, which was originally revealed at E3 in 2013 as an exclusive for the PS4, now has a release date after what has been a troubled period of development. Releasing on May 26th for Xbox One and PC, Rime will retail at £30 whilst being available in physical and digital formats. Rime was announced as multi-platform in January this year. As developer Tequila Works reacquired the rights from Sony in March 2016. First announced back in 2013, it was RiME's 2014 Gamescom trailer that really stole our hearts - telling the tale of a young boy who must use his wits and ingenuity to survive and ultimately escape from a mysterious island and a terrible curse. You'd assume that a Director’s Cut of a video game would add a lot more significant content than a vastly underwhelming survival mode, but Deadlight developers Tequila Works seemed to miss that memo. Apparently, some concept art, the aforementioned survival mode and a higher difficulty level are enough to suffice. Actually, that does sound significant on paper, but in reality it’s not, and that’s especially true if you’ve already played Deadlight before.
