Sega was at SXSW on Thursday revealing some new information on their upcoming projects, along with some tidbits of Sonic Mania on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter page. So, bad news or good news first? Bad? Okay, you asked for it. Sonic Mania; a 2D Sonic platformer that I'm sure we were all looking forward to getting hand cramp from, has been delayed. By an entire season! The initial release date of spring 2017, has been pushed back to summer 2017. Sonic Mania’s seriously sweet collector’s edition package was previous an exclusive for North American gamers – but now it seems that players in Europe will also be able to get their Sonic-like gloved paws on this collection. The game itself, a side-scrolling platformer , is being billed a return to Sonic’s Mega Drive roots, from the art style and gameplay to the inclusion of ‘remixed’ levels from previous Sonic titles. Gear Gauntlet, the indie game from Drop Dead Interactive, is possibly one of the simplest games we’ve ever seen here at Xbox One UK. Simple in set-up, that is.
