Sonic Mania’s seriously sweet collector’s edition package was previous an exclusive for North American gamers – but now it seems that players in Europe will also be able to get their Sonic-like gloved paws on this collection. The game itself, a side-scrolling platformer , is being billed a return to Sonic’s Mega Drive roots, from the art style and gameplay to the inclusion of ‘remixed’ levels from previous Sonic titles. Developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games, Sonic Mania may be the shot in the arm that the series needs – something publisher Sega must be hoping for, after a string … Read More »

You get a fair idea of the difficulty of Pharaonic just by the title. It’s not that it’s particularly complex to pronounce, but it takes a few seconds to wrap your tongue around it and spit it out. Phara-o-nic. The game’s quite similar in that respect – at first, it seems near-insurmountable, but after a while you get a fair(o) grip on how to play effectively. After a short preamble regarding the The Red Pharaoh – you know, the immortal, resurrecting kind of pharaoh that plagued ancient Egypt – you’re thrust into the game, playing as a slave who awakens … Read More »

Have you always wanted to play as a sea worm that’s been swallowed by a sea-beast, hunting for your kidnapped sea-children? Rejoice – you can fulfil that incredibly niche desire in action-adventure Into the Belly of the Beast, the inventive sea-themed sort-of side-scroller from indie developer Lucky Brograms. The game kicks off without much of an introduction, just a 30-second cut-scene that sets up the entire premise of the game, with your character, Sploosh, watching his babies sucked into the mouth of the titular beast. Initially we were concerned, since the blocky cut-scene graphics reminded us more of a Nintendo 64 … Read More »

Indie developer Curve Digital have released Pumped BMX +. The game is a side view bike game get much of its inspiration from the likes Ubisoft’s Trials series and Tiny Wing. The game takes inspiration from an earlier IOS/Android game developed by the same team called Pumped BMX 2. This BMX trick game runs very much like Trials does allowing players to jump off ramps, while flipping in the air and ranking up score points all set to a very colourful vibrant background which reminds me a lot of the visuals from Max Curse Of Brotherhood. The game also features a smart easy … Read More »
