Sega was at SXSW on Thursday revealing some new information on their upcoming projects, along with some tidbits of Sonic Mania on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter page. So, bad news or good news first? Bad? Okay, you asked for it. Sonic Mania; a 2D Sonic platformer that I'm sure we were all looking forward to getting hand cramp from, has been delayed. By an entire season! The initial release date of spring 2017, has been pushed back to summer 2017. Maybe Sega themselves got too caught up in testing that they forgot to keep developing as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyXg9kAp4Vc The above video shows some gameplay from Sonic ... New information has been released by Sega for the upcoming retro throwback, Sonic Mania. Focusing on the already announced revival of the iconic Green Hill Zone, the following video (with commentary) demonstrates the second act. The area expands on the originals foundations whilst giving us a deeper glimpse into the zone, with new obstacles and mechanics. There will also be new areas to be discovered dependent on what type of shield you may have. New baddies and bosses have, whilst not shown off, been revealed. These have been dubbed the 'Hard Boiled Heavies.' The first of these will be known as ... Read More »
Sonic Mania’s seriously sweet collector’s edition package was previous an exclusive for North American gamers – but now it seems that players in Europe will also be able to get their Sonic-like gloved paws on this collection. The game itself, a side-scrolling platformer , is being billed a return to Sonic’s Mega Drive roots, from the art style and gameplay to the inclusion of ‘remixed’ levels from previous Sonic titles. Developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games, Sonic Mania may be the shot in the arm that the series needs – something publisher Sega must be hoping for, after a string ... Read More »

We love our classic consoles. Games from a bygone era - classic, simple, hard as nails. So when we get the merest sniff that we might be able to play some of these classics through the wonders of emulation, we sit up and take notice. Undoubtedly, we're going to see emulators on our Xbox Ones sooner rather than later, thanks to Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and the convergence of the Windows 10 and Xbox stores. We recently brought you the news that Win64e10 - a Nintendo 64 emulator App that runs reasonably happily on Windows 10 - could potentially see the light ... Read More »

Are you pining for a little fear? After a game that'll keep you wide awake in the wee hours, clutching a torch and spanner whilst moving around your abode all quite like? Good news! Alien: Isolation - The Collection is available to download now! Developed by Creative Assembly, Isolation received largely favourable reviews for it's tight-wound tension and faithful recreation of the Alien universe. Curious fact: Isolation is the first Alien-based video game Sigourney Weaver has lent her acting talent to, stating in an interview with TIME that she "felt that this one was very different" to previous games. As for Alien: Isolation - The Collection, included ... Read More »
Tembo the Badass Elephant could have been amazing, however it makes you crawl around the levels on your belly, rather than smash through gloriously like the war crazed pachyderm you are. I’m not a game developer, but I feel I've played enough games over the years to know that Tembo commits a pretty big crime to 2D platformers. One that sadly detracts from all the positives the game does have to make this more of a grind than a pleasure to play. Tembo has all the ingredients to be an absolute classic with the excitement of a cartoon Rambo in ... Read More »
