Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been fairly active on Twitter recently, mainly to downplay the furore caused by the cancellation of Scalebound. Not to be painted as a broken record, however, Spencer has also been talking about Project Scorpio and whether or not we'd see anything before E3 in June. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have a clear answer: @Sn4kee@BeastFireTimdog Honestly not sure yet but I know people want this. — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) January 11, 2017 It's an absolute guarantee that Microsoft and Phil Spencer himself will be devoting a huge amount of their E3 time to hyping up ... We're jumping aboard the Wishful Thinking bus right off the corner of Speculation Boulevard right now! It would appear that games aren't announced via the usual methods these days. If it's not leaked online or outed by a Taiwanese ratings board, it'll be the registered domain names. Chief culprit at the moment is SEGA Europe, who have registered multiple domain names for a "Shenmue HD". The domains, which include "shenmuehd.com" and "shenmueremastered.com", are perhaps the most solid evidence yet regarding Shenmue HD, but how does that concern Xbox? Shenmue 3 hasn't been confirmed for Xbox One, despite legions of fans ... Read More »
Free Play Days is a great little promotion that allows for players to try out a game for a couple of days with no strings attached, and it would appear that the next game in line is Diablo III, if the Xbox Store is to be believed. Take this with a pinch of salt for now, as nothing has been confirmed, but the Xbox Store currently lists Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition (such a wordy title) as part of the Free Play Days promotion. The next game in the promotion being labelled as such before any ... Read More »
We have to admit, we were pretty disappointed with FIFA Street. Not because it's a bad game - it isn't. It's a very good game. But from the title we were expecting to be playing with a squashed Coke can for a ball and piles of jumpers for goalposts. That's how we remember football in the street, anyway. EA Sports FIFA Street would be a strong favourite for joining the backwards compatibility list, we think. It's part of the annual update crew, so it's unlikely to steal focus (or sales) from FIFA 18, and EA are supporters of the initiative, with 17 games ... Ever since the Microsoft owned Minecraft made an appearance on Nintendo’s Wii U, internet speculation spread like wildfire about the prospects of a partnership between Microsoft and Nintendo. Microsoft have been pushing the boat out as of late, trying to form working relationships with other platforms. We can already play Rocket League with PC players, but Microsoft and Phil Spencer aren’t resting on their laurels. Phil has been fanning the rumour flames a little bit more recently. In an interview with AusGamers, Spencer talks about the strength of Nintendo’s first party line-up, and how he’d jump at the chance to ... Read More »
You've asked for it. Nay, you've demanded it since the inception of backwards compatibility, and after a year of hoping and waiting... we might finally have proof that Skate 3 is going backwards compatible very soon. Of course, many of you will think the chances of this happening are the same as you seeing a unicorn, so let us present our little bits of evidence. Firstly, the tweet below: Skate 3 now on BC? My 360 says it is @XboxOneGB@XboxAchspic.twitter.com/qX1ffGtPhi — Gerble72 OTHG 4 life (@gerble72) November 10, 2016 One of our followers on Twitter, @gerble72, appears to have taken ... Read More »
Has a random subway rider just spied the title of the next Tomb Raider game? The Tomb Raider reboots have been pretty successful for developer Crystal Dynamics, and publisher Square Enix, with both Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider both receiving rave reviews. So we wouldn’t be surprised to discover there’s a third adventure coming. And it's possible that's precisely what's happening, a year on from the last game. According to a Reddit user, he was travelling on the subway, when he spotted someone working on a presentation for a new Tomb Raider game, titled… Shadow of the ... Read More »
A rumour has emerged that Sledgehammer games may be taking the CoD fans back in time to the Vietnam War. Since the last few instalments has become too futuristic, Sledgehammer games may be putting a twist on things and bringing back the boots on the ground, pre modern war experience. According to the source, Sledgehammer games were tasked with making a new Call of Duty title by Activision a few years ago, but the developers had to take a different route. A Call of Duty by the name: Call of Duty: Fog Of War was a third person shooter set ... Read More »
Overwatch fans have been waiting a long time for the latest update on rumoured hacker hero Sombra. She’s even been referenced in-game, with Reaper declaring ‘Where’s Sombra when you need her?’ Well, if this leak is true, she’s right here. Originally, the following image was spotted on Blizzard’s intranet – and pretty swiftly that was taken down, leaving us with a screenshot from a Reddit user, and a few bits of information. Right off the bat, Sombra looks just as kick-ass as the rest of the heroic Overwatch line-up. In the text beneath the image, we learn a little more ... Read More »
