Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege, the claustrophobic team shooter from Ubisoft, gets a new update today. Update 5.3 consists mainly of bug fixes. In fact, there’s only one new feature – in custom lobbies, the host can pause the operator selection timer, useful when all you’re doing is arguing who accidentally grenaded whom in the previous round. We’ve almost reached a year since the release of the multiplayer-only strategy shooter Rainbow Six Siege; and to celebrate going into it’s second year, Ubisoft is releasing free DLC; titled Red Crow, introducing new Japanese Operators and a new map set it in Japan to go along with it. Details of the fourth and final year 1 DLC for Rainbow Six: Siege – Operation Red Crow – has been formally announced, after being teased on Ubisoft’s @Rainbow6Game Twitter. Last week, images of a crow or raven appeared, with some commenters reporting the text translates to “Time has Come”. Although the actual release date isn’t known for the new DLC, it’s guesstimated to be releasing around the Pro League Finals in mid-November. Ubisoft have posted a new blog today detailing what players can expect from next month’s Rainbow Six Siege expansion, Operation Skull Rain. The blog post, which can be seen in full below, provides information of what to expect from new characters, a new map and some gameplay tweaks: Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Skull Rain expansion is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 2. In my opinion, Rainbow Six: Siege is probably the best shooter around at the moment. It isn’t your usual run and gun shooter, it requires patience and tactical play. It only seemed a natural progression therefore for a Pro League to be next! Ubisoft, Xbox & ESL have partnered up to announce the global competition. Images of the two new operators that will accompany Rainbow Six Siege’s Black Ice DLC have emerged online. The leak made its way to reddit via the user Fireinyoyrhole who found the images on the /vg/ Rainbw 6 General Thread on 4Chan and shows off the two new Canadian operators and their default load-outs. The two operators are called Frost and Buck. Frost is a female defense operator who has the ability to incapacitate enemies through a trap. On their forums Ubisoft today released the patch notes for patch 1.2, which will be hitting Xbox One on the 14th of January. This patch aims to fix some of the major issues that shipped with the game, ranging from matchmaking improvements to connectivity  right down to skin unlocks. Operation Black Ice was originally slated for release in January, though it has now been revealed that Ubisoft has pushed the new content back to Febuary 2 for Season Pass holders. This season pass is different from most others, however. Owners of the pass will get boosts and a week of early access to the games new operators, but the maps release for free at the same time for everyone.
