Titanfall’s exclusivity deal with Xbox was met with serious concern from FPS fans. But it turns out that the decision, unsurprisingly, wasn’t made by developers Respawn. According to Dusty Welch, Respawn’s COO, and art director Jose Emslie the decision not to publish on PlayStation was ‘out of our hands.’ During a charm offensive for Titanfall 2, designed to reassure other platform players, they made it clear that it wasn’t there choice to go Xbox-only. Emilie said, ‘we would always like these to be multiplatform. The more consumers that can play ’em, the better. It’s not about money, it’s about the audience … Read More »

We always thought that if cross-play gaming were to become a success, it’d probably begin with a game like Minecraft. It seems that Minecraft’s developer Mojang agree. There was a lot of buzz around cross-play a couple of months back, with developers and senior gaming figures all saying what a great idea it was – the studio behind Rocket League literally said they were ready for Xbox One-PS4 cross-play the moment Sony gave the nod. But has that nod been given to another studio? Minecraft brings everybody together, including competing devices! Realms supports cross-platform play, & there's a free trial! … Read More »

Console wars are thing among fans of games.  I don’t really see a point because I believe it should be play what makes you happy for whatever reason.  Hardware developers strive to be the best selling console manufacturers on the market but don’t ten to let things like mud slinging get into the mix.  Microsoft however seems to be taking a more direct and vocal approach to take down Sony’s console sales lead. Over the last month, Microsoft and Sony have announced and/or launched new consoles with additional features.  Microsoft launched the new Xbox One S and back at E3 … Read More »

Earlier in the year Microsoft dropped the bombshell of cross-platform play and even put forward the concept of gamers from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network playing together. Sony responded in a general sense, but seemed to be indecisive about working with their primary competitor in the console world. Fast forward to today and the co-creator of Xbox Ed Fries has made it known that he too is hopeful that Sony will get on board with the cross-platform play effort whilst in an interview with IGN. “I hope that Sony is going to respond. It’s good to see some of … Read More »

EA’s Peter Moore reckons so and one day your precious Xbox One could be a relic of the past. With digital gaming and streaming (more so on the other platform where you can rent a game and stream it) becoming more and more popular physical copies may one day become obsolete and it’s not such a crazy idea when you think it could potentially eradicate piracy altogether. Although the latest generation has not been cracked for piracy yet it doesn’t mean that that day may come. With that Moore reckons that this generation of consoles could very well be the last with … Read More »

Bad news for Overwatch fans hoping to play the Blizzard FPS with those on other systems – Jeffrey Kaplan, the game’s director, has put the absolute kybosh on it. For now. Overwatch was already listed as a definite no for cross-platforming back in November 2015. Then Microsoft popped up earlier this year to say they’ve figured out how it could be done, suddenly it seemed like the perfect game to join Rocket League as a cross-platform-ready title. During those heady, golden hours, anything seemed possible. But while excited gamers gasped, the reception from those in the industry was if not … Read More »
