We know what you might be thinking is this exactly great news for Blizzards foray into first person shooters? Many may say not that depends or not if you are a fan of Black Ops 3 or not. Treyarch one of Activision development studios for the Call of Duty franchise helped Blizzard out as obviously fantasy MMO’s are usually their thing. The Diablo and World of Warcraft creators wanted to make sure that their shooter played well on a consoles controller so enlisted Treyarch to help with specifically the aim assist so it is not jarring as sometimes it can … Read More »

Bad news for Overwatch fans hoping to play the Blizzard FPS with those on other systems – Jeffrey Kaplan, the game’s director, has put the absolute kybosh on it. For now. Overwatch was already listed as a definite no for cross-platforming back in November 2015. Then Microsoft popped up earlier this year to say they’ve figured out how it could be done, suddenly it seemed like the perfect game to join Rocket League as a cross-platform-ready title. During those heady, golden hours, anything seemed possible. But while excited gamers gasped, the reception from those in the industry was if not … Read More »

Overwatch, the ridiculously colourful multiplayer FPS from Blizzard Entertainment, has been the source of some serious controversy of late. You might’ve noticed, as we covered the details right here, and here, and here. But the long and the short of it is that a few sexual references have been cut from the game at the behest of some in the Overwatch community. Blizzard’s swift action has divided fans – some see it as a blatant attempt to cleanse video games of their ‘edge’; others think this just proves how shallow and sexist the industry still is. So which side is … Read More »

After a week of back-and-forth between Blizzard and its community, which saw sexual references, including seedy porn mags, edited out of the game, the studio is now trying to win back some fans. Yep, the Tracer, a time-travellin’ pistol-shootin’ adventurer, will no longer celebrate her heroism  in what some considered a gratuitously sexual – and sexist – pose. The new pose, still titled ‘Over the Shoulder’, is a total overhaul. Sort of. While the Tracer still looks back at gamers, and still depicts her rear, there’s less emphasis on it and more on her overall character. Indeed, the pin-up-style pose … Read More »

Yesterday we posted about two recent changes to Blizzard’s Overwatch due to age-appropriate material and views, HERE. Well, the discussion continues following the decision to remove main character Tracer’s “over-the-shoulder” pose, from Jeff Kaplan (Game Director) earlier in the week. We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated or misrepresented. Apologies and we’ll continue to try to do better. As a recap, Tracer is a female character with one of her optional poses being under scrutiny to possibly sexualise the character and, though the opinion of each … Read More »

No pun intended in the title here, honest. Blizzard’s latest game Overwatch is a colourful, fun and hectic First Person Shooter (FPS) due for arrival May 25th 2016 and boasts 21 different playable characters each with their own abilities and playstyle. But as the beta continues its pre-release development, and is understandably making a few adjustments (that’s what a beta is all about after all), it has been in the spotlight this last week for a few similarly related issues. In the latest beta patch you may have already read that there was a masturbation reference within part of a new … Read More »

An eagle eyed Reddit user by the name ‘Deadpoolthegreat’, may very well have stumbled upon the release date of Overwatch. The mistake appeared early this morning, with an ad campaign appearing from IGN. The link has now been removed, but not before it was screen captured: As can be seen above, the ad clearly states the game will be available on the 24th may 2016. Along with this there is also the promise of ‘early access’ to the open beta starting 3rd may. May the 3rd… why does that date ring a bell? Oh yes, it just happens to be … Read More »
