Previously, Xbox One Uk featured a small piece talking about why playing “so bad they’re good” video games like Deadly Premonition can be a lot of fun, but that isn’t the only kind of badness that can be found within our game collections; there are also certain games that revel in moral badness, “sick” games, in other words. Rather than the badness of these games stemming from incompetence, film scholar I.Q Hunter has argued in his essay “Trash Horror and the Cult of the Bad Film” that this kind of badness is “equally defined by its grossness“. These films, he writes, … Read More »

You have nothing to fear except fear itself, or so the saying goes anyway. Well Outlast 2 is here to prove otherwise. The original game was a masterclass in the survival horror genre and this title does nothing to diminish this reputation. The start of the game sees you flying in a helicopter with your reporter wife as you film her introducing a segment about what happened to a mysterious murdered girl known only as Jane Doe. This is your role in life, you are a cameraman and the camera is the only tool at your disposal. This position doesn’t … Read More »

Red Barrels, the developer of the Outlast series, have released the first teaser image (our feature image) for their new game Outlast 2. After the reveal in October of 2015 we haven’t really heard much in regards to the game. Whilst the teaser image really is a beautifully crafted creep fest, Red Barrels have also been busy answering questions posed by fans on their twitter page, some of which give a slight hint into what we could be expecting with the latest installment to the growing franchise. Red Barrel Studios, the creator of the terrifying but brilliant Outlast, are celebrating Halloween with a teaser to the sequel. Outlast hinted at the horrors of overzealous church-goers before taking its tale down another path, but it appears Outlast 2 will revisit this side of the story. Although the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it does include it’s iconic night vision camera. Outlast 2 is scheduled to release in 2016 and if anything like the first game, will be a must play for fans of the horror genre.
