For the past few years, I've gone through the same process: trailers emerge for a new WWE game; excitement intensifies until release date; the dodgy physics engine and under-realised career modes lead to utter disappointment. And it's a pattern that continues this year, so why not use that energy and awareness to speculate on what could, and perhaps should be coming to the season pass. Some of it is obvious, some of it... wishful thinking. NXT Pack Practically confirmed already by the Collector's Edition being an NXT Edition (with a sweet Finn Balor Statue), expect this to include recent editions ... Read More »
One of the best parts of the Dead Rising series was the Psychopaths: a collection of challenging boss fights against some of weirdest characters ever committed to a video game disc. The recent gameplay shown at E3 for the upcoming Dead Rising 4 lacks that certain psychotic presence, but we've got to believe it'll be there. There's a huge opportunity for a fight against a deranged hobo Santa that Capcom Vancouver would be foolish not to take. Still, these fresh psychos would have to be pretty special to out-crazy the craziness that came before. So in celebration of a new ... Read More »
I've noticed a certain trend in gaming over the past few years and that trend is the almost desperation of retailers and publishers to ram a pre-order down your throat. Some of the incentives for pre-orders seemingly make it worthwhile while others often times seem to be content that should have been there in the first place (Goro in Mortal Kombat, Nuketown in Black Ops 3 and the just recently announced Goldberg in WWE 2k17). Now nearly all of us know how the Nuketown Pre Order went and it was absolutely disastrous but that was down to the fact Activision ... Read More »
Not all games can be as relentlessly chipper as Rocket League, or Sunset Overdrive. Join me, as we take a look at 10 Games That Prove Life is Just Plain Cruel. Honourable Mentions All Telltale Games - Pretty much all of the Telltale games at least grapple with dark, ... Read More »
Let's face it, shall we? TV tie-ins are usually a load of old guff. Search your feelings, you know it to be true. However, sometimes these games offer something that's genuinely and surprisingly fun. It's rarer than a rainbow coloured leprechaun riding a unicorn through Atlantis, and often times these games have glaring flaws, but it happens. So to celebrate the release of Quantum Break, which aims to fuse game and TV together to create a Frankenstein's monster of an experience, here are 5 Games Based on TV Shows. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - Okay, we’ll open with the ... Read More »
The motley crew here at Xbox One UK love backwards compatibility, and once again, we have some more suggestions for added titles that we’d like to see. Alright, so the previous instalment might have seen resident caffeine addict Stacey lose his damn mind and wish for Dreamcast functionality, but I promise we’ve calmed down a little bit, and gone back to some more reasonable wishes. Join us, please... Fight Night Champion It's not often that a sports game will get praised on its story, but Fight Night Champion knocked that rule out. A compelling redemption story, coupled with a complete ... Read More »
