According to a redditor, Amazon UK were listing a Metal Gear Solid 5 Definitive Ex, which was quickly taken down when it started to draw attention. Looking at the title, Definitive Ex, shouldn’t it be Definitive Ed? According to Gamespot, this listing is questionable as the title doesn’t make sense and why have a definitive edition for a game that is already on next gen consoles? Metal Gear Solid 5 was made in two parts, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. Maybe Konami decided to release the game as one bundle, maybe that’s what … Read More »

According to reports Konami have been talking internally about a follow-up to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Japanese financial paper Nikkei have reported that Konami are talking internally about the possibility of continuing the Metal Gear Solid franchise. “When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary,” a company insider is quoted as saying. The report also says that it is unclear about Hideo Kojima’s involvement. Although Konami has denied it, reports from earlier in the year have speculated that Kojima has parted ways with the company. Metal Gear Solid still sits proudly on my shelf, having reigned supreme as my favourite game on the Playstation. I last completed it in January 2010, in one sitting, no skipped cutscenes or comms and no saves. It was a glorious 12 hours that was witnessed by friends, both gamers and non-gamers, in a tiny university accommodation room after a particularly boozy night before. There was no better (or worse) way to finish the game than to have the final cutscene, which was real video footage rather than game rendered, crash the Playstation 2 I was playing on. To me, … Read More »

A 30 minute video from Konami deep dives into Metal Gear Solid 5’s Mother Base. Everything from base expansion to base invasion the video runs through. You can expand Mother Base and manage Diamond Dogs to develop new abilities and equipment to use. While you are away you can call in intel, supply drops, first aid and medical treatment, so really Mother Base is worth the time to invest in. You can micromange Mother Base or leave it to your second-in-command, Miller. There is dynamic weather at Mother Base, so you can expect rain. There are posters that benefit you … Read More »

The details of this feature have found their way onto the internet and we’ve gone over them and picked out the bits of information that are the most interesting, whilst also being the least spoilerific. Firstly, the game is open-world, but instead of one whole area it’s separated into two sections: one set north of Kabul in Afghanistan, and another set in the Angola-Zaire Border Region.
