Resident Evil 7 : Biohazard is set to be a return to the basics of horror survival unlike more recent releases of the franchise which featured our heroes running and gunning through zombie outbreaks. Although much is set to be different about the newest release it would seem that some things never change, such as the green herbs we have relied on throughout all previous instalments  it will make its return in Resident Evil 7 and used for the same purpose – Healing yourself after being mauled by a zombie. Capcom showed off the healing herbs through the Resident Evil Ambassador program … Read More »

Good horror games seem to be hard to come by so when Layers Of Fear hit consoles many horror fans rejoiced as it seemed we finally had a horror game that would actually send chills down our spines. Having completed the game, we thought the horrors of the house were finally behind us but Layers Of Fear – Inheritance DLC will plunge us back into the madhouse. The DLC will see us take the role of the original protagonists daughter who as the name suggests inherits the old Victorian house and must explore its secrets to discover the family history. The … Read More »

Horror fans rejoice – beloved schlock horror, Friday the 13th will be making its way to consoles pretty soon – and if the gameplay’s anything to go, it’s going to be utterly brutal. Check out the gameplay right here (This ain’t for the faint of heart)… During a livestream over on Twitch, developer Gun Media showed off some of the most savage in-game killings since Rockstar’s Manhunt. There’s an interesting twist to the gameplay, too, as gamers will spend time slicing and dicing camp kids as iconic Jason Vorhees, while also desperately attempting to avoid the hockey-masked serial killer while … Read More »

Kickstarter project Allison Road has been cancelled. It was going to be the first-person horror game that we all wanted developed by Lilith Ltd. News of the cancellation was announced a few hours ago by the official twitter account of Allison Road. The tweet which you can find here, gives no reason why it has been cancelled but does say that an official statement will be released soon, so we will keep you up to date. Allison Road was originally started as a Kickstarter project that had hoped to be the next big hit in first-person horror after the success of … Read More »

It’s not often we get to play as a mute toddler with a creepy talking teddy for a best friend – but that’s exactly what’s on offer in Among the Sleep, a first-person horror from Krillbite Studios. Players are thrust instantly into the world – there’s no tutorial here, no clear objectives – which reminded us of those famous cold opens in the TV show Rugrats, except here everything’s just… too… perfect. And that makes it utterly disturbing from the off. Things go from unsettling to terrifying shortly after, as the protagonist’s mother disappears, leaving the child to explore the … Read More »

Are you willing to walk into horror? Then get ready to enter The Park. The Park, a narrative-focused horror game, sees you play as a mother searching for her lost child in a hauntingly realised amusement park. That’s a great setting; relatable and genuinely terrifying once the carnival lights go out. Developed by Funcom, whose last console game was the decade-old Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, the game was slated for release last week. That was pushed back and the game will now arrive on May 3rd. The Park has received pretty mixed reviews, described as a walking simulator that’s not … Read More »

The hype surrounding Gears of War 4’s October 11th release – developer The Coalition have already revealed a teaser new trailer via Twitter, introducing the three main players, including JD Fenix, Marcus Fenix’s son. Now there’s an all-new trailer that focuses on the young Fenix, who now resembles a misshapen Dennis Quaid. Titled ‘Tomorrow’, the trailer is intended to set up both the character of JD, and show the amount of time passed since the last Gears game. This is done by having an older, slightly-more-married-than-the-last-game Marcus plant a tree that, 25 years later, JD uses for cover against a new … Read More »

Now I know what you may be thinking about this – “a live action horror coming to the Xbox One? Sounds an awful lot like a film.” I guess in some ways it does sound like a film, but with horror games of late taking a much more story-based approach with interactivity largely taking a back seat. (Layers of Fear for the Xbox One, Soma and Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture for the PC and also Outlast to a certain extent). These games all share one thing in common – they are pant-wettingly scary at times, but they also prove that the … Read More »
