Having previously headed up Konami Europe, Shinji Hirano is now taking the helm at Kojima Productions. With no official statement being released, the news was actually discovered on LinkedIn – where Hirano now lists his new position, alongside this job description: Responsible for managing extremely talented creative teams as one single entity and providing the leadership to make company successful as one of the greatest creative studios in the world. And he’s not the only Konami veteran to make it onto Kojima Productions’ team: they also scooped up ex Konami concept artist Yoji Shinkawa and producer Kenichiro Imaizumi earlier in ... Read More »
There's big changes afoot at Konami. The studio has plans for no more triple A titles to be produced there apart from Pro Evolution Soccer and worldwide technology director Julien Merceron has left the company. It is been said that Merceron has left the company due to his increasing unhappiness at the direction that the studio is taking. This direction is to lead them away entirely from the production of console games so that they can concentrate their efforts and resources on the development of mobile games. This does have another implication as well. It means that there will be ... Read More »

The latest Official Xbox Magazine is out and within it's glossy cover is a 16-page feature on Metal Gear Sold V: The Phantom Pain. The details of this feature have found their way onto the internet and we've gone over them and picked out the bits of information that are the most interesting, whilst also being the least spoilerific. Firstly, the game is open-world, but instead of one whole area it's separated into two sections: one set north of Kabul in Afghanistan, and another set in the Angola-Zaire Border Region. There'll also be elements of the game taking place in the Seychelles, where Snake's ... Read More »
