It’s no surprise that this time of year exudes a spirit of gift-giving, and we couldn’t be more excited to help you unwrap a very special present from us to you: Monitor’s Bounty. If you play Halo 5 this weekend – that’s 26-27 November – you’ll be the lucky recipient of an exclusive in-game emblem, Thanks Given. The emblem, revealed on the official Halo Twitter channel, looks a bit like Foghorn Leghorn’s been crammed into a Spartan helmet. We like it. We also like the idea of poor, defenceless, tasty birds donning armour and equipping Designated Marksmen Rifles whenever the Bernard Matthews truck rolls around… Play Halo 5 this weekend to get the elusive Thanks Given turkey emblem. Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours, from us at 343! pic.twitter.com/2PtCSXjUUR — Halo (@Halo) November 24, … Read More »

Halo developer 343 Industries is moving around around some management, as Josh Holmes – studio head for the last 7 years at 343i – is moving on to pastures new. Bonnie Ross, 343i general manager, reacting to the announcement, called Josh an “instrumental leader” and wished him well for the future. In the announcement, Josh had this to say about his time at 343i. “I have loved every moment here on Halo but I find myself drawn to new horizons.  This month I’m leaving 343 Industries and excited for my next adventure to pursue independent game development.” Unfortunately, there’s no need to … Read More »

Can you believe, Halo 5: Guardians is already celebrating its first anniversary! However it appears Microsoft is set to continue supporting the game for the foreseeable future with further DLC. Since the games release, there has been a total of nine free updates that have included fifteen maps, an abundance of REQ items and six new game modes to name a few. However in a blog post this week from the games developers, Josh Holmes of 343 Industries has spoken about further DLC and updates. Holmes stated that there will be ‘the introduction of more maps into the Warzone Firefight rotation, new … Read More »

The level editor is responsible for legendary community-created classics such as Grifball and new favorites like Flapjack Frenzy and Ground Pound Arena. Since the last of the planned Halo 5: Guardians updates – Firefight – things have been pretty quiet on the Halo 5 front, with attention shifting to Halo Wars 2. Quiet, but not silent. We can still expect more content for Halo 5, and this week’s Community Update sheds a little light on what we can expect. First up is Halo 5 Forge for Windows 10, which will bring the much vaunted creation tool to Windows PCs for the first time. We admit we love Forge but we just can’t seem to find the time to tinker with it, so … Read More »

So, that’s it. The promised run of free DLC for Halo 5 has ended, with the incredible Firefight update. Since Halo 5: Guardians released back in October 2015, free DLC has delivered fifteen new maps, Forge mode, new game modes, Firefight, and a ton of customisation options, REQs and fancy-pants armour. It’s a significant list, and not one bit is locked away behind a pay-wall, so every map is available to every member of the community. No matchmaking headaches when partying up with friends with different DLC availability. Except, it’s not yet over… not quite. “…we’ve seen many inquiries about … Read More »
