For years, Halo’s Forge mode – which it’s debut in 2007’s Halo 3 – has empowered Halo fans to create new maps and game modes that have changed the way people play and experience Halo. Since last month developer 343 Industries has been talking about a release date of 8 September – but we can confirm it’s out one day early, and available to download! The level editor is responsible for legendary community-created classics such as Grifball and new favorites like Flapjack Frenzy and Ground Pound Arena. With Halo 5: Forge, the entire Forge experience from Halo 5: Guardians comes to … Read More »

Here’s what to expect with the upcoming update: Forge Content Browser The Anvil’s Legacy free content release brings easily one of the most eagerly-anticipated features to Halo 5, a robust new Forge Content Browser. Since the last of the planned Halo 5: Guardians updates – Firefight – things have been pretty quiet on the Halo 5 front, with attention shifting to Halo Wars 2. Quiet, but not silent. We can still expect more content for Halo 5, and this week’s Community Update sheds a little light on what we can expect. First up is Halo 5 Forge for Windows 10, which will bring the much vaunted creation tool to Windows PCs for the first time. We admit we love Forge but we just can’t seem to find the time to tinker with it, so … Read More »

One of the things that Halo fans really love is the forge mode. It is always interesting to see what comes up when map creation is taken out of the hands of the developers. But there is a catch, this freedom can lead to all sorts of catastrophes. For this reason 343 Industries are very selective as to which maps it adds to its playlists, and lets be honest, this is a good thing. But recently 343 Industries mentioned that they will be adding a new map to their Slayer playlists at the start of the August season. This map … Read More »

So, that’s it. The promised run of free DLC for Halo 5 has ended, with the incredible Firefight update. Since Halo 5: Guardians released back in October 2015, free DLC has delivered fifteen new maps, Forge mode, new game modes, Firefight, and a ton of customisation options, REQs and fancy-pants armour. It’s a significant list, and not one bit is locked away behind a pay-wall, so every map is available to every member of the community. No matchmaking headaches when partying up with friends with different DLC availability. Except, it’s not yet over… not quite. “…we’ve seen many inquiries about … Read More »

Microsoft has revealed that Halo 5: Guardians fans will have a new way to browse and create Forge maps on both Windows 10 PC’s and Xbox One. Forge creators will now have the ability to use their Windows 10 PC’s to not only create and share forge maps using the free software but can test their creations with their friends.  The PC Forge Editor will not have matchmaking capabilities however. Another big addition is that Forge creators will now have the precision of mouse and keyboard. “Forge on the PC will finally give the mouse/keyboard editing precision the community has … Read More »

We’re just a few days away from the launch of Warzone Firefight, the return of the famous mode to Halo in the latest – and largest – free update for Halo 5: Guardians. Warzone Firefight launches on 29 June – and is heralded by the chance to play Halo 5 free for a week – and is the subject of this week’s Halo Community update. We’ll let 343 Industries set the scene. “If you’re not familiar with Warzone Firefight (What’s wrong with you? 😊), it’s our brand-new 8-player Co-op mode where you and your Spartan squad must overcome 5 rounds … Read More »

Warzone Firefight is the eighth free update for Halo 5: Guardians, and sees the return of the legendary co-op Player Versus Enemies game style that debuted with Halo ODST, and spawned many a Horde Mode in its wake. Warzone Firefight represents the biggest release of new content since Halo 5: Guardians launched towards the end of 2015 and, if April’s beta for the new mode is anything to go by, Firefight will be bigger and better than ever before. This latest release is so much more than just one new mode, though. As we covered last weekend, Warzone Firefight will … Read More »

Warzone Firefight is the next – and much anticipated – update for Halo 5: Guardians, bringing back the much-loved co-operative mode that debuted in Halo: ODST. Although still a few weeks away, April’s Beta showed the mode was in good shape and will likely be a fantastic addition to one of Xbox One’s best multiplayer titles. The update will bring the Firefight mode, some improvements and additions to Forge, a refresh of the main Warzone mode that we covered a couple of weeks ago, and a handful of new maps. In fact, this week’s Community Update from 343 Industries explains that a … Read More »
