We might be in that fallow period between Halo 5 updates – Ghosts of Meridian having launched a couple of weeks ago, and Memories of Reach still a few weeks away – but that doesn’t stop the team over at 343i from keeping the community updated. This week we take a look at the new social playlist Super Fiesta, the new Waypoint File Browser, and look forward to some controller-tweaking options that will land when Memories of Reach hits our consoles in May. Super Fiesta is a brand new social playlist for Halo 5, promising epic opportunities to clutch matches … Read More »

Firefight is the legendary Halo co-op mode that pits a band of Spartans against waves of increasingly tough enemies. What began life as a small mode in Halo: ODST soon spawned a thousand imitators, practically inventing the horde mode found in many a shooter since. Firefight was sadly missing from Halo 5: Guardians at launch. The good news, however, is that it’s coming to the latest Halo instalment. The better news is that it’s available in Beta form right now. It’s time to call in the big guns, Spartans. The Warzone Firefight Beta is now live! Jump into Halo 5 to play! pic.twitter.com/UYya8LO7WX … Read More »

We take our helmets of to the guys at 343 Industries who have delivered a steady stream of new content for Halo 5: Guardians since launch. The latest installment – Ghosts of Meridian – is now live. If your console is set to instant-on the chances are your update is already installed. If not – get right on that, Spartan! Alongside the new maps – Tyrant (Arena) and Skirmish at Darkstar (a fabulously compact Warzone map) there are a whole host of new Reqs to enjoy, and a bunch of tweaks across Forge, multiplayer, campaign and the UI. The dates … Read More »

Saturday is Halo day, and after our very own Queen of the FPS Julie G took us on a tour of Ghosts of Meridian – the fifth free update for Halo 5: Guardians – today we get our first look at the full Req board, and some stunning screenshots from new maps Tyrant and Skirmish at Darkstar, one of two new maps shipping with the update. Let’s get stuck in. Ghosts of Meridian lands this coming week, brining a whole host of new Req cards, new armour variants, and two new maps. Last week we took a closer look at … Read More »

Saturday is Halo day, and after the excitement of last weekend’s Halo World Championship Finals (I’m fairly certain our new eSports team will take the final next year, y’all) things settle down into a normal kind of weekend. First up, a few more bits of news about the next Halo 5: Guardians free update, Ghosts of Meridian. We get our first look at the Req board, promising two new maps (one already revealed as Skirmish at Darkstar, and a couple of new armour variants. Amongst the weapons is the VIP gravity hammer Tartarus’ Gavel, which belonged to the last Jiralhanae chieftain to … Read More »

World Championship. Some people cannot believe that such a title could be applied to a video game and mean something – even some who consider video games their hobby of choice are surprised. Let’s throw a number out there, then, in the hope that we can make this more relatable. $2,500,000. Two. Point. Five. Million. Dollars. £1,737,861 British Pounds (and 4 pence). That is the total prize fund for next week’s Halo World Championship. For playing a video game. You know what I’m thinking about right now? “Why did I stick in at school?” (Note for kids and their parents: stick in … Read More »

After the release of the Hammer Storm update around 10 days ago (which featured in session one of our tremendously successful Gameblast16 marathon last weekend) you’d forgive 343 Industries for taking things easy – but not a bit of it. They’re already dropping hints about what’s still to come for Halo 5: Guardians – including the much-anticipated PvE mode, Warzone Firefight! We know that next out of the gate will be Ghosts of Meridian – and this week’s community update lets Spartans everywhere know that this next update will land in early April, just a few days later than we expected. Following … Read More »
