Bulletstorm has the distinction of being somewhat of a “cult classic” shooter, despite only being 6 years old. When the original game dropped on the Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2011, it received plenty of praise from critics, but fell under the radar of the mainstream gaming audience. Whether it was an issue of poor advertising or a less than ideal release window, Bulletstorm didn't reach the sales target intended by EA and People Can Fly. It was a huge shame, since Bulletstorm offered bags of personality and a combat system with enough depth to separate it from the rest ... Read More »
We're going to start this review of Verdun, not with any fancy intros or witty wordplay, but with a picture. A picture that perfectly captures your typical experience when playing this game: Due to some unknown glitch, half of the character models have become either white or pink phantoms, haunting the WW1 battlefields of mainland Europe. It's hard to sneak around a dreary grey and brown warzone when your character looks like a mascot for Susan G. Komen. In turn, it's hard to really get invested in what Verdun offers. Verdun is a multiplayer first person shooter based on the ... Read More »
Who would have thought that the single player campaign of a Battlefield game would actually be a stand-out feature? Given the abject mediocrity we were dealt in previous iterations, the fact that Battlefield 1 offers an engaging campaign mode alongside the popular multiplayer component is a triumph of the highest order. The key ingredient is the sense of scale DICE have provided to the World War 1 setting. From the narrative, to the setting and the level design, there's an overwhelming sense that you and your struggles are just another thread in an intricate tapestry. For too long, modern military ... With the release of Battlefield 1 on October 21st, we will see not only a massive change in setting and structure from previous Battlefield titles but a refreshing change of pace for shooters in general. But what has made DICE make such a drastic change and what can we learn about the new game from the campaign trailer that dropped yesterday. https://youtu.be/C-vAxVh8ins We learned from DICE announcements that the single player campaign will not follow the standard formula of a single protagonist. But will instead follow the stories of different protagonists throughout different battles and scenarios of World War 1. ... Read More »

Ever wanted to relive some of the classic gaming from the early 1990’s? Look no further. Gunscape, The Create, Share & Play Indie Game from BlowFish Studios should tick all the boxes. Gunscape is a game inside a game. It offers a great campaign mode with 8 chapters to work your way through, with each chapter having a surprise round every corner. Gunscape delivers that great retro feel from the N64, Original Xbox and, dare we say it, PlayStation era. Playing through the campaign is like a trip down memory lane - only better. You remember how great Goldeneye was? Then you set ... Read More »
