Guns, guns, guns. Without them, modern warfare would just be a lot of pushing and shoving. And Battlefield 1‘s guns are some of the meatiest, most believable around. We loved Battlefield 1 – and we think that it (more or less) nailed that delicate weapon balance in multiplayer from the off. We still hate shotguns though, and we can’t hit a barn door with the Martini-Henry. You might have a different opinion – and here’s your chance to have your say. DICE’s chief weapons designer has taken to Reddit to ask for any and all feedback about the guns of … Read More »

As well as confirming that Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available early for EA Access subscribers, BioWare team members took to Twitter to confirm there will be no season pass for the game. The official Mass Effect Twitter account responded to a direct question to confirm that EA Access members will be able to hop back into the Mas Effect universe before other players. There’s no talk of how much earlier, but in the past the early access period has lasted a week. @sedaspade Yes, EA Access members get to play Mass Effect: Andromeda early for a limited time. — Mass … Read More »

Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of the hottest properties in gaming right now – and though lots is known already, we’ve actually seen very little of the game. This week it was announced that The Game Awards, which take place on 1 December, will premiere Mass Effect: Andromeda’s in-game action. Mark your advent calendars, folks! This will be the first time the general public (that’s you and me) will see the game in action. We’re hyped! The game currently has a Spring 2017 release window. That’s still some time away (*glares out window at snow covered streets*) and we know … Read More »

We love Titanfall 2 –  it’s one of our Games of the Year to be sure and, on balance, we think it’s the best of the three ‘big name’ shooters released in recently, trouncing Infinite Warfare and edging out the superb Battlefield 1. We think it has the quality to stand in the ring and slug it out in such a packed release window – but it seems not everyone has that faith, and we’ve previously reported on its disappointing sales. In a recent interview with Glixel, Respawn supremo and straight-talker Vince Zamparella stated that it’s not a guarantee that more Titanfall … Read More »

Today, Titanfall 2 developer Respawn Entertainment released the new Titanfall 2: Pilots Gameplay Trailer. ‘Five Reasons to Want to Be a Pilot’ showcases what truly separates a Pilot from a grunt. Whether it’s becoming one with a giant mechanized killing machine, fortitude in battle, playing the odds, out maneuvering enemies, or speed and agility, this trailer shows that Pilots are a breed apart. We went hands on with Titanfall 2 at EGX today and it’s the fast, fluid, immensely fun shooter we love. We’re sure Respawn will give the fans the Titanfall experience they crave. Check out the trailer for … Read More »

Hands on with Titanfall 2 at EGX confirms our excitement for the forthcoming EA sequel and our fears. Combat is still as satisfyingly chaotic and fast-paced as always. Wall running is now even more an aerial ballet than before; chaining wall runs and leaps together to escape, evade or attack is as engaging and compelling as ever. Weapons are satisfyingly beefy, and your own mortality leaves every foray towards an enemy-held hardpoint a careful balance of risk and reward. And still, Titans take far too long to unlock. Despite capturing and amping hardpoints like it as going out of fashion, and … Read More »

Project Scorpio, the forthcoming uber-powerful iteration of Xbox One, is due to land towards the end of 2017 and it looks as though Electronic Arts – one of the biggest publishers in the industry – is fully behind it. Speaking to our friends over at Game Informer, EA Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund expressed his excitement about the move towards a more iterative update cycle for consoles, bringing more power to gamers within a console’s lifecycle. “If you’re a developer, when you make games, you always want more capacity. You always want to bring more to the players. We’re truly … Read More »

Publisher Electronic Arts is continuing to make Visceral’s Battlefield Hardline downloadable content free – and this time it’s the turn of Criminal Activity. This DLC – normally priced at a penny under twelve pounds sterling, includes four fast-paced new maps – Code Blue, Backwoods, The Beat and Black Friday – littered with small-time robberies and stick-ups. There’s a new Bounty Hunter game mode where you take down your foes and collect their bounty coins, as well as four new weapons, two new weapon attachments, one new gadget, two new rides and six new masks. For a limited time, Xbox Live Gold Members can … Read More »
