Dark Souls 3 is a game that makes people weep for many reasons. For this writer it is merely the fact that the game tortures us with its difficulty. You get a fair idea of the difficulty of Pharaonic just by the title. It’s not that it’s particularly complex to pronounce, but it takes a few seconds to wrap your tongue around it and spit it out. Phara-o-nic. The game’s quite similar in that respect – at first, it seems near-insurmountable, but after a while you get a fair(o) grip on how to play effectively. After a short preamble regarding the The Red Pharaoh – you know, the immortal, resurrecting kind of pharaoh that plagued ancient Egypt – you’re thrust into the game, playing as a slave who awakens ... Dark Souls is part of gaming's collective consciousness. A creation of the old school; tough, unforgiving, and enigmatic. It was described, by journalist Keza MacDonald, as "a brutal and demanding third-person action-RPG set in a world full of monstrous, disturbing things that are trying their hardest to end your life as quickly as possible" in the first ever internet review back in 2011. Now, over half a decade later, this incredible, influential game has a book that aims to do it justice - You Died: The Dark Souls Companion. If you haven't played a Dark Souls game - and we're ... The current trend for detailing DLC before a game is even released continues, with an Xbox Store listing for DLC for the upcoming Dark Souls III. The sadistic geniuses over at From Software, developers of the Souls series, have remained typically silent on the matter but the listing tells us there will be two distinct DLC packages to which Souls fans can look forward. These will release sometime after 12 April 2016, when the main game lands on Xbox One; picking up the Season Pass at launch will net you both expansions. We will need to wait for From Software to break their ... Read More »
