The internet has been debating over a certain situation over the last 24 hours with regards to Fortnite and cross-play connectivity. One reddit user suspected cross-play between Xbox One players and PlayStation 4 players after a recent encounter on Fortnite: https://www.reddit.com/r/FORTnITE/comments/70fj38/fortnite_just_made_console_history_proof_of_cross/?ref=share&ref_source=link Not long after, another reddit user posted images of him and his son playing online together - one playing on Xbox One and the other playing on PlayStation 4: https://www.reddit.com/r/FORTnITE/comments/70j5dl/ps4_and_xb1_playing_together_enjoy_while_you_can/?ref=share&ref_source=link If that's not good enough proof, I don't know what is. For all we know, Microsoft and Sony may be keeping tight-lipped on the announcement and Epic Games have ... Read More »
There's a lot to be excited about for Xbox fans this year. Not only will we finally get our hands on the Xbox One X, formerly code named Scorpio, but we're also going to be treated to some excellent Microsoft exclusive titles such as Crackdown 3 which is set to be a launch title for the X. In terms of what to expect from Crackown 3 when it's running on the X executive producer of the title, Peter Connelly, had this to say: "Crackdown 3 will play better on Xbox One X and feature increased level of detail at greater distances ... The team at Cellar Door Games, who previously brought us Rogue Legacy, are currently working on a new brawler full of RPG elements and to continue the current trend, pixels. Full Metal Furies is scheduled to arrive this year on both Xbox One and Windows 10. The tile will also become part of the Xbox Play Anywhere library with cross play support. The developers have been quick to indicate that this is not just another old-school beat em up with the aim of 'modernising' the genre whilst being able to bring in a whole new audience. There are four character roles ... Read More »
For those looking to take advantage of cross play compatibility between PC and and Xbox One for ARK: Survival Evolved will have to wait a little while longer.  While it was originally set for December, we will have till 2017.  Luckily it's going to be January 2017.  Developer Studio Wildcard lead developer Jeremy Stieglitz explained that it “requires reformatting ARK’s application handling to work with Universal Windows Platform."  So look to have Play Anywhere capability next month. Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczack also confirmed once again Windows 10 owners will be able to set up their own dedicated servers to run ... Read More »
It seemed inevitable that Gears of War 4 would feature cross-play across all game modes – a fact that was confirmed by Microsoft during their E3 2016 press conference. Only, it turns out that’s not entirely true. With the arrival of the first Play Anywhere title to feature competitive multiplayer, gamers were gearing up to play with and against others on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. After all, cross-platform play is one of the most requested additions in console gaming, with everyone from Rocket League to Final Fantasy getting in on the action. Pictured: Xbox One and PC ... We always thought that if cross-play gaming were to become a success, it’d probably begin with a game like Minecraft. It seems that Minecraft’s developer Mojang agree. There was a lot of buzz around cross-play a couple of months back, with developers and senior gaming figures all saying what a great idea it was – the studio behind Rocket League literally said they were ready for Xbox One-PS4 cross-play the moment Sony gave the nod. But has that nod been given to another studio? https://twitter.com/Minecraft/status/780198616040284161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw During the epic MINECON convention, Mojang announced that the subscription-based Minecraft Realms would offer full ... Cross-platform play is one of those holy grails in gaming – we’ve seen it before, rarely, but that’s mostly been limited to consoles and PC. What the fans really want is for the two dominant forces in console gaming to get together and allow gamers across the spectrum play together. Microsoft have said they’re up for it. A number of developers have said they’re up for it. Even Psyonix, the studio behind the fantastic Rocket League, have said they could make it happen within hours of the ok. There’s only one thing holding it all back: Sony. Now, in an interview ... Read More »
Ok, so that title could seem kind of misleading, it's not really the actual console itself that we'll be referring to here but rather the team behind the Xbox One. Obviously owning an Xbox One puts you in a very good place for gaming. The online service may cost around £40 a year but you get a lot for your money with Xbox Live The servers are solid; sure they are targeted from time to time and have the occasional failure, but all in all they serve their purpose exceptionally well and generally hold up better than the competition. Of course, one ... Read More »
