When the Xbox One was first announced, Microsoft also provided details of a system which will change the way we play games; The Cloud. Alas, we are yet to see it at it’s full potential. Yes, the cloud has been around for quite some time now, and we have already seen it implemented in a number of ways. One, in particular has been with us since part-way through the Xbox 360’s life-cycle, allowing us to store saves in ‘the cloud’ and continue where we left off on another Xbox 360 console half way across the globe, providing you had access to the internet … Read More »

The saga of Crackdown 3 is a strange one, with its omission from E3 2016 and subsequent delay into 2017 coming from seemingly nowhere. At least now we have some clarification. Speaking to Game Informer, general manager of Microsoft Studios Shannon Loftis went into detail regarding the delay, stating that they were hard at work on the Campaign mode after focusing on the multiplayer Sandbox: “It’s actually the campaign that we’re doubling down on now. We’ve got internal play sessions every week for Crackdown Online. We’re starting now to get the campaign in. Building these open world games is both … Read More »

Crackdown 3 – once just ‘Crackdown for Xbox One‘ – stands alone as the singular title that demonstrates “the power of the cloud” through its impressive tech demo from Build 2014, the E3 2104 trailer, and most of all the Gamescom 2015 demo. Crackdown 3 – in development by Scottish games company Reagent Games and Scottish cloud tech specialists Cloudgine – remains one of the most highly anticipated games around but despite being headline news over the last two years, Microsoft’s in no hurry to rush to launch, according to Xbox Marketing Manager Aaron Greenberg. Speaking on the TXR Podcast, Greenberg … Read More »

Crackdown 3 was announced at E3 in 2014, and from that point we haven’t really heard much about it. The dry spell of news regarding the game appears to be over, however, as an update to the Crackdown website has now revealed that Crackdown 3 will be coming to both Windows 10 and Xbox One in 2017 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The website goes on to state that Crackdown 3 is a game which has been built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games. Reagent games states that … Read More »

Dedicated fans of Microsoft’s Crackdown think they’ve uncovered a teaser website for the upcoming third instalment. Days before E3, a member over on the Crackdown Forums, who calls themselves TheAgencyBoss, posted a link to a site that is intriguingly sparse on information. The only clues we possess are… A banner thanking the agent for their visit A series of five missions, dated to run through to 7th July A reference to earning dollars for an agency pension. Any ideas? Because that’s not a lot to go on, except that in Crackdown, you play as an Agent of justice… You can … Read More »

The upcoming Xbox exclusive Crackdown 3 might do more than the trailers and advertisements have let on. Previously the game has been teased as having one of the most impressive examples of online carnage by claiming that it will have an entirely destructible city. This feature is something that is supposedly powered by Microsoft’s Azure cloud servers. Perhaps there is more going on than previously anticipated, as this screenshot from the store page shows: Now I’m not one to speculate, but if this is accurate, then Crackdown 3’s multiplayer is going to be insane. Keep in mind that this may … Read More »
