War. What is it good for? Video games, apparently. And when these EA stablemates somewhat controversially went head to head in a crowded autumn release window, they were both winners. Critically, Titanfall 2 has the edge, but it was close. Less close has been the battle for sales, where by all accounts Titanfall 2 took an undeserved beating from Battlefield 1. So this battle of the controllers takes on a little extra frisson – who will win in this rematch? Actually, that’s a bit misleading. Both the PDP Official Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 Wired Controllers are functionally identical – … Read More »

The time has come and gone thankfully when we had to keep buying new batteries for our controllers – we recently tested one charging solution from Venom – the Venom Rechargeable Battery Twin Pack – which offered charging while you play, thanks to Venom’s rechargeable battery pack and USB cable. The Twin Docking Station takes a different approach. Rather than charging on the fly the Docking Station charges your controllers while you’re not using them. And it does so pretty rapidly, too. Once you’ve inserted the Venom battery pack, which replaces both the batteries and the battery hatch cover on your … Read More »

It’s not often that you’ll stumble across third party hardware products that have been officially licensed by Xbox, with the traditional green Xbox One banner emblazoned on the packaging, but the Horipad Pro For Xbox One is one such controller. As such you’d expect that this product would be of the highest quality, and live up to the high quality standards that Microsoft themselves set for their gaming accessories. Unfortunately, first impressions of the Horipad Pro are not exactly stellar ones. The initial unboxing is when the trepidation first sets in. The controller is extremely light; in fact, if you are an Xbox One … Read More »

Many people that I have spoken to about this robust controller had nothing bad to say. I can’t fault it; owning one myself, but having said that, I know of others who would. And those that do, the only complaint tends to be the hefty price tag. However, Amazon have recently put a price reduction on the controller saving you a little over £12 from its original price. It’s taken almost a year since release to see some kind of price drop anywhere but now that Amazon has decreased its price, surely others will follow. You can now purchase it for £107.75, … Read More »

Last month Microsoft announced an expansion to their wireless line-up and now we have some firm details as to what that actually means: The new Xbox One wireless controller will be compatible with controller-enabled games on the Samsung Gear VR. That collaboration all kicks off with Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, which they’ve premiered at this year’s MINECON, letting players try out the virtual reality game using the Bluetooth-equipped controller. According to Microsoft: Players can get right inside the world of Minecraft and build, explore and battle mobs – all with a fresh perspective. Following a game update in October to … Read More »

Fans of the Xbox One S have, so far, been limited to playing their games with a white controller, or having their own unique ones created by Microsoft’s Design Labs. Tomorrow, though, that all changes, with the release of the Xbox One S black controller. The black Xbox One S controller features all the same features as its white cousin, including double the wireless range and Bluetooth technology, which allows gamers to hook up the wireless pad to Windows 10 devices. While the pad may be coming to Amazon US customers, there’s no word yet on if, or more likely … Read More »
