It’s starting to appear like Microsoft is confident with taking shots at Sony.  In a recent interview with Albert Penello, head of product and planning  for Xbox, he has made it very clear that they are focused on what developers want with 4K but the competition is not. “I think there are a lot of caveats they’re giving customers right now around 4K. They’re talking about checkerboard rendering and up-scaling and things like that. There are just a lot of asterisks in their marketing around 4K, which is interesting because when we thought about what spec we wanted for Scorpio, … Read More »

Xbox One sales are tricky to judge, since Microsoft has always refused to officially confirm how many of the consoles they’ve actually shifted, unlike their Sony rivals. Current estimates range from 17 to 20 million – but what we do know is that it’s looking like Xbox has seen a significant increase in sales over the last week. And it’s all thanks to the Xbox One S. The streamlined, slim-line white console with its 2TB hard drive and HDR support has sold phenomenally well since its release on 2nd August. We already knew it had sold out in the UK, … Read More »

It’s safe to say we’re giddy with glee at the prospect of the Xbox One S. Smaller, prettier, 4K ready. We’ve signed up. We want it. Now, please. Yes, we know Scorpio (or whatever it ends up being called) will be more powerful. But Scorpio’s a year away, and we like shiny new things now, please, without having to wait. Okay, so it’s not going to be now. But now we know it will be soon. Really soon. And whilst Xbox UK’s BennyCentral might just be stealing his, he has at least told the rest of us when Mr Postman … Read More »

Earlier on, we reported that the upcoming Xbox One S will be getting the full COG treatment, courtesy of the leakmaster himself Ekim. Turns out he’s right once again. Coming complete with the classic Crimson Omen and an in-built 2TB hard drive, this Gears of War themed Xbox One S bundle also has a sweet blood splattered controller (also sold separately), a download code for the upcoming Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition, early access to the game on October 7th, and a slew of in-game goodies. Not only that, but we’ve also got a second custom controller with a … Read More »

Microsoft are no strangers when it comes to beautiful, themed consoles. In the past we’ve seen Xboxes decorated with Halo, Gears of War and even Iron Man themes – but their Game of Thrones Xbox One might just be the best yet. It’s part of a competition for Xbox France, to celebrate the season six finale of the ludicrously popular Game of Thrones. All followers need to do is retweet the tweet below, as well as creating their own tweet that includes #XboxLovesGoT. Today i pose the above question. With all the awesome looking stuff coming out of Gamescon such as the Limited Edition Halo Console, Controllers and the Xbox Hard drive. Would you pay more for a Limited edition or Xbox branded product? This came out of a Whatsapp group that i have with a group of friends of mine who game on the Xbox One, (Hi Adam, look im on the interwebz!) When one friend of mine and I lusted over the new Halo Limited Edition Console, so blinded by the blue eject button and grey hexagons that it took another … Read More »

In the year 2000, video game consoles were first banned in China due to fear that the 3D world’s produced by them and the devices themselves created a negative effect on the mental and physical development of children. Just after approximately 15 years the ban is now to be lifted. Companies like Microsoft, Nintendo & Sony will now be able to manufacture and sell video game consoles anywhere in China. This is according to a statement made from the country’s Minister of Culture. The restrictions of this ban eased up last year by letting the console makers operate in a … Read More »

Before you get particularly excited, there’s a catch: so far, the promotion is only available to those who have received an email from Microsoft. Best check that inbox. The offer gives both the referrer and the friend a free 12-month subscription to EA Access, a normally paid-for service that offers a range of EA games on-demand and occasionally gives early access to games before their official launch. An example of this includes Star Wars Battlefront, set to release later this year but playable “first on Xbox One”, presumably via EA Access. To qualify for this promotion, the console must be bought from … Read More »
