It has long been the practice for media outlets to receive new titles for review prior to launch. Magazines and websites frequently receive copies to have a review ready by release. However it appears Bethesda has now put a hold to this for their titles. A statement published within the company blog by Bethesda’s global content leader, Gary Steinman, stated that after supplying copies of DOOM a day before release, it has been decided to alter company policy to only allow games to be distributed to media outlets a day in advance for future titles. Steinman indicates that despite there being … Read More »

Fans of this year’s monster hit Doom from Bethesda Softworks have just some received some fantastic news. In a new update that has been released, the game has received a whole new single-player score-attack mode. Being dubbed Arcade mode, this update changes Doom’s single-player campaign into a series of challenges allowing players to compete with each other and climb those leaderboards. Within Arcade mode players will be able to customize their look, loadouts and gear when entering a stage. They will also have all guns, runes and equipment available. All this to help you rack up the highest score possible by getting … Read More »

It won’t be long now before all you adventurers can step back into the well-worn boots of the Dovahkiin to re-experience the rich world of Skyrim. Still, you won’t be going anywhere if you haven’t got the space on your hard drive. Bethesda have said that the game will need 25GB worth of space in Europe, but only 17GB in North America. Quite why there’s an 8GB difference between the two continents baffles me, but that’s the world we live in. Still, there is something to look forward to. Bethesda have said they will be releasing a new creation kit … Read More »

One of the most anticipated downloads for Fallout 4, the Nuka-World expansion will take you to a lawless amusement park riddled with raiders, where you’ll explore all-new areas and take over settlements. These areas include Safari Adventure, Dry Rock Gulch, Kiddie Kingdom, and the Galactic Zone. We knew the add-on as going to drop on Tuesday, 30th August for those in Europe (North America gets it a day earlier) – and now we know precisely when to expect Nuka-World’s doors to open. The game’s official Twitter feed announced – to the minute – what time each part of the world … Read More »

Unto the Evil is the first of three downloadable content packages from the id developed and Bethesda published DOOM. This first pack focuses on the multiplayer side of the game – a mode that we pointed out is rather lacking compared to the exceptionally enjoyable single player campaign. Bringing a whole heap of shiny new extras to the fight, Unto the Evil includes three new maps – Offering, Cataclysm and Ritual – two new weapons, a new playable Demon, new hack modules, and a raft of customizable items in the form of armour and taunts. The three new maps are by far and away the best part … Read More »

After the launch of Fallout 4 and the announcement of the Skyrim remaster, I was hoping Bethesda was getting ready for an Elder Scrolls 6 announcement. According to Bethesda Marketing Executive Pete Hines, it’s going to be a long time before that announcement happens. “The Elder Scrolls VI isn’t in development,” he said on Twitter. “We simply said we would make it eventually.” Pre-production of video games start way before production starts on the actual game. Could it be that they are currently starting work on the story and direction they want to go, or did Hines mean that they haven’t started … Read More »
