Newcomers and veterans can expect some treats The story of Battleborn is quite an usual one, it’s a game where nothing is bad about it at all but for some reason fails to connect to a vast majority of gamers. Maybe it was the release date being close to Overwatch, maybe it’s a genre that isn’t as big as first thought; no one is quite sure why but there is a silver lining. Gearbox have decided to release a humongous update that all players will enjoy regardless if they’re new to the field or a seasoned veteran – you know … Read More »

Look, we get it. You’re one of the cool kids. You’ll drop something before it becomes uncool just in case anyone even hints that you, too, might be uncool. You got back into high-tops before anyone else, you decided it’s okay to not like fro-yo, and you were the first kid on the street to microwave your Furby. You’re a trendsetter. But, you know what’s not cool? What just makes you look like the petty, entitled, smug fool that you are? “Does anyone still play that…” whenever anyone mentions the game that you no longer play because you don’t want … Read More »

When Battleborn released earlier this year we found a game that was a pleasant mix of various genres. Whilst having a steep learning curve it was still fun to play with a different and interesting style. Unfortunately, it soon fell out of favour with many gamers. This was no doubt due to it being released so close to the release of FPS juggernaut Overwatch. The games are very different but the popularity of Overwatch definitely hurt a lot of Battleborn’s player base. That being said, the game still has a loyal fan base with many players feeling that by moving the game to free to … Read More »

So do we now know when the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta will be released on Xbox One? The full game, which has had mixed responses to its sci-fi setting, is released on 4th November – but it seems Microsoft has let slip when the beta drops. According to Charlie Intel, on the Microsoft Store‘s Call of Duty page there was, very briefly, a notice declaring the open beta’s release. Get ready for it – the message claimed that: Beta starts October 21, 2016 on Xbox One. Availability and launch date(s) subject to change. See www.callofduty.com/beta for more details. Minimum Beta duration is … Read More »

Back in October 2009, Gearbox gave the world its vision of a RPG style first person shooter that gave us all an original IP in a style never seen.  Borderlands gave fans of multiple genres a way to spend 1,000’s of hours of our lives in the world of Pandora and it’s millions of weapons and loot.  Borderlands over the next couple years has been followed up with a sequel – as well as a pre-sequel.  With Borderlands: The Pre-sequel being the most recent but also least enjoyed game in the series, fans have been getting eager hoping for Borderlands 3. … Read More »

Since its release, Battleborn has seen a lot of new content being added, with new heroes, maps, modes, and more all appearing at one time or another. Gearbox Software has been listening to you – the fans – and have been busy reprioritizing aspects of the game that you told them were important: Two of five more FREE heroes, with the third just days away! That makes 28 heroes for everyone that bought Battleborn – and two more free heroes coming your way this fall and winter! Broadcaster tools 3 new PVP maps, one for each mode: Monuments (Incursion), Outskirts (Meltdown) and … Read More »

Battleborn didn’t get off to a great start, did it? Despite solid reviews (you can read ours right here), its thunder was stolen by the Overwatch beta that dropped just a couple of days after the game’s release, and despite being a different genre and different playstyle, it’s never managed to shake off comparisons to Blizzard’s shooter. But that doesn’t mean it’s game over for 2K’s colourful and characterful MOBA. During an earnings call, the publisher’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, said: While the game launched to solid reviews, its performance in the market has been below our expectations. We think there … Read More »

Aaron Linde, lead writer of Battleborn, leaves Gearbox Software. Thankfully all seems like its just another chapter in this writer’s life as he moves onto other pastures. He tweeted “Tomorrow’s my last day at Gearbox,” he wrote. “Absolutely love this team and am incredibly proud of the work we did together.” Linde first signed on as a writer at Gearbox in October 2013. Linde has had a fruitful career so far, prior to working at Gearbox Software, he worked in narrative design at studios like Monolith Productions and Microsoft Game Studios, where he wrote content for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and … Read More »

Battleborn patch adds Alani, adjusts Incursion, rebalances Ambra and Gaililea The update delivers new character Alani, one of five planned DLC heroes. She’s free for open beta testers and included in the season pass. The patch also added new skins and taunts, as well as Hero Keys, but perhaps more importantly there have been some balancing changes worth highlighting, as both Ambra and Gaililea have been tweaked.   “Ambra’s Extinction Event provided unnecessary crowd control due to the large area of effect,” Gearbox wrote. “We removed the slowing effect to allow for better counter-play options around her ultimate. “Galilea’s desecrate … Read More »
