Interested In Joining Us?
The Xbox One UK website, along with the associated social network profiles, groups and channels, is run by a small team of people and we’re always looking for the right people to join us! And you don’t have to be from the UK, either!
We’re always looking for enthusiastic contributors to join our team! If you have an interest in video games in general, and Xbox in particular, and fancy being part of something bigger, there’s a role for you as part of the Xbox One UK team!
We’re always looking for news writers, game reviewers, YouTubers, streamers (Twitch and Beam), and social media admins and moderators.
As well as working for the largest and fastest-growing Xbox One fan community in Europe, you’ll be joining a team of over 25 like-minded gaming geeks, so you’ll never be short of someone to team up with, go raiding with, or just kick back and have a chat.
There are lots of benefits to being part of our team – giveaways, free games, and special events, not to mention the pleasure of kicking trolls out of our Facebook group!
If any of this sounds appealing then take a look below for some of our vacancies! All we ask is that you’re keen, friendly and at least 18 years of age!
We’re primarily an Xbox One (and, increasingly, Windows 10) gaming news website. If you love finding out what’s new, if you lap up gaming news, and if you can sniff out an interesting story on Twitter, then why not put those budding newshound skills to good use? If you can spare a couple of hours a week to deliver four or five bits of news, sourced from across the Internet, then there’s a place for you at our news table.
If you are new to the team you’ll go on trial, to get you up to speed with the technical aspects of writing for a news website, and find your own voice within the site style. If all goes well during the trial period (which usually lasts between two and six weeks) new candidates become fully-fledged members of the News Team.
If you want to review games for us, then you’ll need to start within the News Team. Once you’ve passed your trial period, if you are interested in doing reviews we’ll have a chat and probably start off on a couple of small ones to see how things go. There’s a much higher expectation on writing standards when it comes to reviews; we’re an OpenCritic contributor, so we have set a pretty high bar. Reviews take much longer to write that simple news pieces, too, and that’s aside from the dozen hours or more that will go into playing a game for review.
While it’s a much bigger commitment – and we often have to work to tight deadlines to publish a review just as an embargo ends – there are perks. Free games, for one, and on occasion the opportunity to play a game before the general public.
Games are a visual medium, so our YouTube channel is an important part of the Xbox One UK experience. From unboxing videos, to let’s plays and video reviews, there are all sorts of opportunities for the budding YouTuber.
Streaming is a phenomenon few predicted – that we all spend so much time watching other people play games, when we could just be playing them ourselves, is amazing. It’s also a brilliant way to engage with the community, raise money for charity, and hang out with friends. Now that we’ve added Beam to our portfolio we’re excited to include more audience interaction in our streams.
It takes 20 – 30 people to keep Xbox One UK going – from news and reviews, to YouTube, Twitch and our Social Media channels, there’s always lots to do! Our social media team is the heart of Xbox One UK, keeping our Facebook group a safe, fun space for like minded fans to get together and talk about games. If you’re a game geek and Facebook junkie, there’s a place for you in our social media team.
Oh, and one last thing: we’re a community website and all roles, from the big boss down, are unpaid. We offer a proudly partisan community voice – for fans, by fans.
If you’re interested in joining our team, just fill in the form below and tell us what you would like to do. We’ll be in contact within 48 hours.
