Changes to Cortana aren’t the only changes on the way for Xbox One owners. Microsoft is just about to launch the Creators Update – a significant upgrade for Windows 10 devices, including Xbox One. VideoLAN VideoLan – or VLC – is one of the most fully featured video players around, with a support for a wide range of file formats and a whole host of tricks – like electronically boosting volume beyond 100%, useful when that atmospheric soundtrack is just a little … Read More »

The unboxing of a new piece of Razer kit is an experience that borders on the religious, for some. The peripheral manufacturer is held in high regard in the PC gaming scene (and, increasingly, console owners, too, though this product is PC only. Check out the Razer Man O’ War 7.1 Wireless Headset for – stereo only – Xbox One compatibility) and the distinctive black kit sporting the green Razer logo is a mark of quality. Every piece of Razer kit ships with a note from the company’s founder, Min-Liang Tan, with the message “Congratulations, there is no turning back.” … Read More »

For those looking to take advantage of cross play compatibility between PC and and Xbox One for ARK: Survival Evolved will have to wait a little while longer.  While it was originally set for December, we will have till 2017.  Luckily it’s going to be January 2017.  Developer Studio Wildcard lead developer Jeremy Stieglitz explained that it “requires reformatting ARK’s application handling to work with Universal Windows Platform.”  So look to have Play Anywhere capability next month. Major Nelson has always been a voice for Xbox.  When it comes to what’s new and how to improve, it always seems to come from Mr. Larry Hryb.  With uploading and recording becoming such a big part of gaming, he put out some tips to make life easier. There are two Game DVR features that are performance sensitive, and Microsoft has given gamers explicit control over both: background recording and support for full screen games. Both features are controlled in the Game bar settings panel (when you’re in a game, hit Win+G, then click the settings icon to show settings). … Read More »
