Gaming just got even better with Windows 10. Play great games optimized specifically for Windows 10, including Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, Killer Instinct, and Gears of War Ultimate Edition, while using Xbox accessories like the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. From the best casual games to a new generation of PC gaming, Windows 10 is built for the games you love.

Last week at the Build 2017 conference in Seattle, Microsoft unveiled their new motion controller. The short video seen below is high concept, showing the controllers being used in a virtual space: https://youtu.be/t8Y7m1onWoc The controllers appear to have some similarity to those being offered for the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive in terms of form factor and appearance - each features a trigger, thumbstick, touchpad, and grab button. A band of illuminated LEDs will be used to track the controllers in a 3D space - and this is where the real difference in these controllers is apparent. Current VR ... Read More »
It has been announced by Microsoft that the Xbox one 'family' of consoles will receive a Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality headset in 2018. This is the first kind of MR headset, as Microsoft appear to be shunning the VR term. The hardware, by Acer, will begin shipping to developers this month as part of a phased rollout system. This will give developers access to the software development kit and Windows 10 Insider preview builds. Although right now the focus is on and leading with PC, a Windows blog post confirms plans to bring the hardware to Xbox. Alex Kipman of Microsoft said; “We’re also excited to ... Read More »
Changes to Cortana aren't the only changes on the way for Xbox One owners. Microsoft is just about to launch the Creators Update - a significant upgrade for Windows 10 devices, including Xbox One. That's probably worth a reminder: inside every Xbox One there beats a Windows 10 heart - it's the reason why we have such a diverse range of apps and why we believe the Xbox One ecosystem has such a bright future. And things will only get brighter with the Creators Update or, more accurately, a series of updates that will occur throughout 2017, the first of which ... Read More »
Inside every Xbox One lurks Windows 10 - Microsoft's all-encompassing operating system that supports the Universal Windows Platform. This means - in theory - any app that uses UWP can run on any Windows 10 device, be it PC, laptop, tablet, phone, or Xbox One. We've picked out a few of our favourites. VideoLAN VideoLan - or VLC - is one of the most fully featured video players around, with a support for a wide range of file formats and a whole host of tricks - like electronically boosting volume beyond 100%, useful when that atmospheric soundtrack is just a little ... The unboxing of a new piece of Razer kit is an experience that borders on the religious, for some. The peripheral manufacturer is held in high regard in the PC gaming scene (and, increasingly, console owners, too, though this product is PC only. Check out the Razer Man O' War 7.1 Wireless Headset for - stereo only - Xbox One compatibility) and the distinctive black kit sporting the green Razer logo is a mark of quality. Every piece of Razer kit ships with a note from the company's founder, Min-Liang Tan, with the message "Congratulations, there is no turning back." ... Read More »
For those looking to take advantage of cross play compatibility between PC and and Xbox One for ARK: Survival Evolved will have to wait a little while longer.  While it was originally set for December, we will have till 2017.  Luckily it's going to be January 2017.  Developer Studio Wildcard lead developer Jeremy Stieglitz explained that it “requires reformatting ARK’s application handling to work with Universal Windows Platform."  So look to have Play Anywhere capability next month. Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczack also confirmed once again Windows 10 owners will be able to set up their own dedicated servers to run ... Read More »
