After last week's truncated Thanksgiving update, Guardians looking to get their teeth into something more juicy than turkey in this week's Destiny Update might be a little disappointed. There's a distinct lack of solid news in the update this week - but the separate December Class Tuning update has some big, important things to say about the Subclasses - Titan Sunbreakers in particular! What do we know: the next game update for Destiny The Taken King is due to drop next week, and Bungie reminds of some of the impending changes they've already told us about: weapon tuning, new (and returning) ... Xur: Agent of the Nine, Destiny’s weekend tentacle faced vendor is back with more Exotic offers! Xur is your guy if you’re after Exotic weapons or armour, provided you have the Strange Coins for them. Location: Xur is in the Reef this weekend. From the spawn point, head down the steps just past Berg 99-40 Bounty Tracker, turn right and then left into the alcove. UPDATE: After accidentally locking Xur in the loo (Note for Americans: the John), Bungie gave up on calling a locksmith and moved him to the Tower. He's in the Hangar, on the walkway that looks out over ... Read More »
There's no doubt about it, £120 is a lot of money. It's not, though, as much as £189, which is the current going eBay rate for the still hard to come by Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. Search hard enough, you'll even find some optimistic scallywag offering them up at £299. There were certainly eyebrows raised when Microsoft released pricing details for the controller at last Summer's E3. It was an unexpected step for Microsoft, entering as they were the professional gaming peripheral arena with a direct competitor to top flight offerings from specialists like Scuf Gaming. Would regular consumers pay three times the price ... Read More »
Fans of old-school classic shoot-em-ups will be no stranger to the Raiden series. Raiden took the classic vertical-scroller design of the seminal Xevious, put ground and aerial enemies on the same plane, and added more guns and more explosions. Lots of guns. Lots of explosions. It was the Raiden series that paved the way for the true 'bullet-hell' shooters like Batsugun and Radiant Silvergun. New series Developers Moss have announced Raiden V will launch for the Xbox One in Japan on 25 February 2016 - twenty five years on from the first game in the series. Moss - who took ... Read More »
As we revealed last week, December's free Games with Gold include a total of five titles - three for Xbox 360 and two for Xbox One. Remember, though, that these (and all future) Xbox 360 Games with Gold will be playable on the Xbox One, thanks to Backwards Compatibility. December's list in full: The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (Xbox One) available throughout December Thief (Xbox One) available from 16 December until 15 January 2016 Castlestorm (Xbox 360) available from 1 December until 15 December Sacred 3 (Xbox 360) available from 16 December until 31 December Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising ... Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter to confirm that new Backwards Compatible titles will be announced monthly. Phil made the statement in a reply to Twitter user @RicoSeattle. We already understood details of upcoming Backwards Compatible titles would be released 'on a regular basis' as Xbox spokesperson and shiny-jacket-wearer Major Nelson explained in his blog. "Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo ... Read More »
The weirdly named First Person Bundle has just hit the Microsoft store, offering up two - you guessed it - first-person games for the bargain sum of £7.99. First up is Tower of Guns, a frenetic first person shooter which we reviewed back in April, giving it a not-inconsiderable 7.9 out of 10. "Tower of Guns is a fun, hectic, random and addictive game. If you can overlook the dated graphics, you'll get hours and hours of fun, time and time again." The second game uses the first person viewpoint in an entirely different way. Q.U.B.E: Director's Cut is a ... Read More »
Sociable Soccer, the spiritual successor to the classic 90's Sensible Soccer series, has been pulled from Kickstarter by developer Jon Hare. The Kickstarter was pulled after it became clear the project wasn't going to get anywhere close to the £300,000 Hare was looking for. Just 1,767 backers collectively pledged £32,498, just over 10% of the required funding. All is not lost though; Hare said the project had generated a great buzz and development is continuing "full tilt" despite the Kickstarter being pulled. Hare also pledged to let fans know more about how the game - destined for Xbox One, PS4 and ... Read More »
Thanksgiving greetings, Guardians! Welcome to the holiday edition of the Destiny Weekly Update - a shorter update for a shorter week, as our friends over at Bungie take the weekend off to give thanks and spend money. First up in this week's update is the upcoming "Challenge Mode" due to drop in December. As we revealed, this will bring additional rewards for terminating one of the Raid bosses in a very specific manner. It looks as though the Maths Wizards (US translation: Math Wizards) have been sharpening their pencils this week and have shared some interesting Player Versus Player analysis. First up, one ...
