We're a little bit in love with Thora. In fact, truth be told, we're a little bit in love with the world Thunder Lotus Games has created for Jotun: Valhalla Edition. This Viking romp through Norse mythology sees our protagonist Thora - a Viking warrior who died in less than heroic circumstances - try to prove her worth to enter Valhalla. For the outset its clear that the subject matter is treated with respect, with reverence, even. The opening scenes describe Thora's demise, narrated by our warrior herself in her native tongue. It's moving scene that leads to our first ... Read More »

There's something demonically old-school hidden in the beautiful open world island on which Jonathan Blow's The Witness is set. Despite the first person perspective, the lushly rendered island, the enticing soundtrack and all the current gen trappings on show, this is one puzzle game that will have you scrawling notes, drawing maps, and whipping out your phone to grab a screen shot as a visual reminder. But you'd never think that from the game's opening - a series of simple puzzles that together at the very definition of lulling into a false sense of security. As you take those early first steps ... Spotify, the music streaming app, and Sony, purveyors of electronics, have a special relationship - after all, the Japanese company axed its own streaming service - Music Unlimited - to partner with the Swedish streaming brand. As a result, there's no sign that an official Spotify app will be appearing on our Xboxes any time soon. If you are looking for an alternative, you might want to consider Spoticast. Spoticast bills itself as Spotify with music videos - but it instead of drawing on Spotify's millions and millions of tracks directly, it asks you to link your Spotify account and does its best to ... Update: Since we brought you this story, Nexbox's creator has confirmed Microsoft has asked that Xbox platform support be removed before UWP certification will be granted. It looks like we'll just need to get our old consoles out of storage for the time being. Last week we brought you the news that Nesbox, an emulator which can play NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Nintendo Gameboy Colour / Advanced games, is currently undergoing UWP certification. Well, according to the app's creator, that process is complete and now it's just a matter of time before a UWP version of Nesbox appears ... Read More »

Since last month developer 343 Industries has been talking about a release date of 8 September - but we can confirm it's out one day early, and available to download! The level editor is responsible for legendary community-created classics such as Grifball and new favorites like Flapjack Frenzy and Ground Pound Arena. With Halo 5: Forge, the entire Forge experience from Halo 5: Guardians comes to ... Read More »
We love our classic consoles. Games from a bygone era - classic, simple, hard as nails. So when we get the merest sniff that we might be able to play some of these classics through the wonders of emulation, we sit up and take notice. Undoubtedly, we're going to see emulators on our Xbox Ones sooner rather than later, thanks to Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and the convergence of the Windows 10 and Xbox stores. We recently brought you the news that Win64e10 - a Nintendo 64 emulator App that runs reasonably happily on Windows 10 - could potentially see the light ... Read More »
