Friends. Don’cha just love ’em? They come ’round to your house, eat all the chicken wings, and then proceed to get hot sauce all over your Lunar White controller. You know what they deserve? A total beat down. Here are our five favourite games for humiliating our nearest and dearest, right to their stupid, fat faces. Xbox Live is a wonderful place. It’s full of opportunities to chainsaw, kerb stomp and just generally mash your PC-loving friends’ heads in. Japanese video game site Dengeki announced that Xbox and PC players of the upcoming Resident Evil 7 (Biohazard 7 in Japan) will be able to transfers their save-games between Xbox One and PC – fuelling speculation that the Capcom title could be one of the first third-party titles to adopt the Xbox Play Anywhere approach. Play Anywhere – which sees seamless integration of Xbox and PC titles, including at the purchasing stage where buying one version of the game nets you the other as well, absolutely free – has until now been available only on Microsoft Studios-published titles, where it’s the new … Read More »

Yesterday, Konami announced the ‘much-awaited’ Free to Play edition of Pro Evolution Soccer 2017. Available from the Store for exactly zero Earth pounds, PES fans and those curious about this ‘other’ franchise can now strap on their boots and take to the field without financial outlay. In our review we praised Pro Evo’s on-field play – this year’s edition really does have the talent to challenge FIFA (we rated both games 8 out of 10), Now, with the release of this free to play version, you can try out exhibition matches and training mode, as well as enter into the new … Read More »

Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of the hottest properties in gaming right now – and though lots is known already, we’ve actually seen very little of the game. This week it was announced that The Game Awards, which take place on 1 December, will premiere Mass Effect: Andromeda’s in-game action. Mark your advent calendars, folks! This will be the first time the general public (that’s you and me) will see the game in action. We’re hyped! The game currently has a Spring 2017 release window. That’s still some time away (*glares out window at snow covered streets*) and we know … Read More »

Space Invaders. There wasn’t much room for interpretation. The aliens’ motivation was clear, as was yours: kill the aliens, defend the Earth. Not a whole lot of nuance. Games are a bit different these days. Case in point: Dishonored 2. Complex characters and situations, and a plethora of ways to get things done – the ‘play your way’ philosophy, according to publisher Bethesda. You can stealth your way through, or make the dramatic entrance for every encounter, or read each as it comes and go with the flow. There’s no right way, and no wrong. You can play the meta game, … Read More »

We love Titanfall 2 –  it’s one of our Games of the Year to be sure and, on balance, we think it’s the best of the three ‘big name’ shooters released in recently, trouncing Infinite Warfare and edging out the superb Battlefield 1. We think it has the quality to stand in the ring and slug it out in such a packed release window – but it seems not everyone has that faith, and we’ve previously reported on its disappointing sales. In a recent interview with Glixel, Respawn supremo and straight-talker Vince Zamparella stated that it’s not a guarantee that more Titanfall … Read More »
