Last December presented somewhat of a terrible experience for yours truly. I had to suffer the indignity of observing one of my favourite franchises commit figurative “bed-soiling”, resulting in a damaged legacy for the foreseeable future. I am referring, of course, to Dead Rising 4. For a game supposedly heading back to its roots, Dead Rising 4 was practically unrecognisable when compared to every other game in the series. Whilst that was good in some cases (DR 4 offered the best gameplay engine and combat of the whole series), something was missing. There was no charm, no soul; mowing down ... Read More »
Greetings men, women and Spectres of the Frontier! The fine folks over at Respawn Entertainment are getting ready to release their 6th free DLC update for Titanfall 2, entitled The War Games. Anyone familiar with the DLC content of the original Titanfall will be familiar with the War Games map, a virtual construct designed to simulate the experience of real combat. The map is a decent mix of tight urban style environments with wide open titan duels on the outskirts. You're also getting a new Live Fire Map in the form of Traffic, which provides both close quarters bedlam and ... Read More »
Obsidian Entertainment and Paradox Interactive have announced that their award-winning RPG Pillars of Eternity will be coming to the Xbox One on August 29th. Funded largely by 70 thousand backers and developed with games like Baldur's Gate in mind, the game takes place in the world of Eora, with your character experiencing an awakening of power that allows you to see past lives. Also, people are Hollowborn and being born without souls, and you should really figure out what is the deal with that. Pillars of Eternity has been nominated for and won a number of Best Game/RPG awards since ... Read More »
In a world filled with SMITE, Overwatch, Paladins and much much more, it's hard for games to not fall through the cracks. Games like Gigantic, the free-to-play MOBA currently residing in the Game Preview program, but not for long. Perfect World Entertainment have announced that Gigantic will be getting a full launch on July 20th, and to celebrate, the price of the Founder's Pack has dropped from £31.99 to £23.99. The pack will give players access to all 18 current heroes, 2 more future heroes and other "unique rewards". If you've been playing the game already, a new update has ... Read More »
It's been nearly three years since the release of one of the best zombie games of current generation, Dying Light, but it appears that the developers Techland aren't finished with the game yet. Techland CEO Paweł Marchewka has stated that fans have been clamouring for some new Dying Light content, and the team at Techland are only too happy to oblige. Not only that, but all the future content will be available free of charge! "In the face of such enthusiasm and engagement, we cannot keep quiet. Today I’m happy to announce Techland’s continuous support for Dying Light. Original content is already ... Read More »
With all of the hullabaloo of E3, one game seems to have fallen by the wayside somewhat: The Crew 2. Sure, Ubisoft and Ivory Tower's first effort was ambitious but ultimately bland and unremarkable, but this sequel seems willing to learn from its mistakes and try new things. Namely new vehicles. The cinematic trailer, which appeared to filmed in the Doctor Strange/Inception universe, showcases The Crew 2: Electric Boogaloo's new additions, as you'll be racing across America in planes, boats and cars in an effort to become the greatest motor-sport champion in history. It's great to see that Ivory Tower ... Read More »
Allow me to break the ice: Netherealm Studios have unveiled the gameplay trailer for the second character in Injustice 2's first fighter pack. Give a warm... well, maybe not a warm welcome, but a jubilant one nonetheless, to Mr Sub Zero. The Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei has appeared in the DC's alternative universe of Injustice 2 to deliver some cold, hard beatdowns. Okay, that's enough of the puns out of me. On to the actual gameplay! If you're expecting somewhat of total overhaul from his moveset and abilities in Mortal Kombat X, then you're sorely mistaken. Subby Wubby still ... Read More »
DONTNOD Entertainment have released the new trailer for their upcoming action RPG/bloodsucking simulator Vampyr, and wouldn't you just know it? We're all aboard the hype train. The trailer itself gives us more of an idea of the style and setting of Vampyr, taking us to the flu-stricken streets of 1918 London. If it's not disease or poverty that'll kill off the Londoners, it'll be the undead armies of the night of which you're a member. Playing as Dr Jonathan Reid, a famous surgeon and Great War veteran who was recently turned into a vampire against his will, you have to ... Read More »
Anyone remember Fortnite, the zombie survival game that Epic Games revealed in 2011? It was a blend of four player horde and fortress construction that looked cool but seemed to disappear as quickly as it came. Turns out, it's still kicking, and it's out next month. In a new gameplay trailer revealed in the run-up to E3, Fortnite shows off that same core concept, and how building your own outposts will help you conquer those pesky undead hordes, whether that shelter be a simple fort in the woods or a giant skull fortress with traps everywhere. Your imagination appears to ... Read More »
