Here’s a sobering thought for you all: the Doomsday Clock currently sits at 3 minutes to midnight, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be turning back time in the near future. If it’s not the tension regarding Syria, nuclear weapons testing in North Korea or unchecked climate change that’ll do us in, it’ll be the frigging killer clowns. Seriously, what the hell world?! But, if the world is going to end, what form will it take? Will humanity live on post-reckoning? How will we get our jollies in an apocalyptic wasteland? Here are 6 games on Xbox One that show … Read More »

We’re jumping aboard the Wishful Thinking bus right off the corner of Speculation Boulevard right now! It would appear that games aren’t announced via the usual methods these days. If it’s not leaked online or outed by a Taiwanese ratings board, it’ll be the registered domain names. Chief culprit at the moment is SEGA Europe, who have registered multiple domain names for a “Shenmue HD”. The domains, which include “shenmuehd.com” and “shenmueremastered.com”, are perhaps the most solid evidence yet regarding Shenmue HD, but how does that concern Xbox? Shenmue 3 hasn’t been confirmed for Xbox One, despite legions of fans … Read More »

Most people tend to agree that 2016 sucked. Too many celebrities deaths and divisive politics dampened a lot of spirits. Luckily, the Xbox team are keeping a positive outlook. Mike Nichols, VP of Marketing for Xbox, penned a reflective post on Xbox Wire about the year 2016 and its significance for the green brand. With nearly 400 new games coming out last year alone, there’s certainly a lot to reflect on! Highlights include: Forza Horizon 3 became both the best-selling and highest rated racing game of 2016, and was the biggest launch for a Forza game to date. It’s only … Read More »

Our congratulations go out to the fine folks at TrueAchievements, who have just reached the impressive milestone of 1 billion tracked achievements across all TA users! I wonder what the gamerscore would be for that particular achievement. Website creator/mastermind Rich Stone took this opportunity to crunch the numbers and break down the habits of the habitual achievement hunters in the 9 years that TrueAchievements has been running, with some interesting statistics emerging. Most notable is the fact that the overall rate of achievement unlocking is down 20% in 2016 from the previous year. TrueAchievements plan on posting a future article … Read More »

It was announced last month that Bandai Namco and New Japan Pro Wrestling would be joining forces for the upcoming Tekken 7, showing off a new King outfit based on the NJPW Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada. Turns out, the deal extends even further than that. A new trailer has revealed outfits for Bryan and Jack, showing them adorned in Bullet Club swag. If you don’t know who Bullet Club are, they’re a prominent wrestling faction that have been taking over “indie” wrestling for a couple of years. Members have included current WWE stars AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Luke Gallows and … Read More »

Welcome back to Xbox One UK’s regular reflection, where we take a look at the list of Xbox 360 titles that became backwards compatible in the last month and try to point out a couple of highlights. December didn’t offer much in the way of quantity, as the Backwards Compatibility team took some well earned time off over the Christmas period. Luckily, the quality of those games picked up the slack. First, the honourable mentions: Injustice: Gods Among Us The Batman vs Superman film might have been a little disappointing, but watching those two cornerstones of the DC Universe duke … Read More »

Free Play Days is a great little promotion that allows for players to try out a game for a couple of days with no strings attached, and it would appear that the next game in line is Diablo III, if the Xbox Store is to be believed. Take this with a pinch of salt for now, as nothing has been confirmed, but the Xbox Store currently lists Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition (such a wordy title) as part of the Free Play Days promotion. The next game in the promotion being labelled as such before any … Read More »
