Assetto Corsa has finally raced on to Xbox One, after several delays – but was it worth the wait? Developed by Kunos Simulazioni, a small studio hoping to rise through the racing sim ranks, Assetto Corsa already has a strong reputation in the PC gaming world, but now it’s finally been ported over to the Xbox One, bringing with it a purely racing mentality. Need for Speed this ain’t. The game is marketed as ‘your racing simulator’, which confused us since initially we found the game to be very arcade-like in its handling and set-up. This cast doubts in our mind … Read More »

Carmageddon: Max Damage is the latest in the popular PC smash-em-up racing franchise, and the first instalment to zoom on to Xbox One. Carmageddon’s been around, in one form or another, since 1997 – the original inspired by the 1975 cult classic Death Race 2000. With Carmageddon approaching its second decade, has it matured well, or is it starting to creak? Remaining true to its roots, Carmageddon: Max Damage is incredibly violent and thick with dark humour  – and one needs to embrace the pantomime of it all to enjoy it fully. So we dug out our studded gloves, dog … Read More »

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 6 from Telltale Games is the first of an additional three, largely self contained, episodes for Minecraft Story Mode. Episode 6, “A Portal To Mystery”, starts where Episode 5 ended, and sees Jesse, hero of the first five episodes, return and meet some interesting special guest stars. Episode 6 takes place in a whole new and alien world – one that has two moons (unusual, even for Minecraft). Jesse, Petra, Ivor, and Lucas find themselves in a graveyard and are immediately beset by a zombie horde. Seeking safety in a nearby mansion, things take a surreal turn as our heroes are joined … Read More »

Another of Dovetail Games Titles is making its way to Xbox One. Their hit Train Simulator! Well know on the PC. In a recent interview Graeme Boyd, social marketing manager for Xbox revealed that Train Simulator would be coming to the Xbox One. Dovetail Games Train Simulator has a massive following on the PC as the game allows custom content and a wide range of DLC. Will all these feature be ported over the Xbox One Version? Mojang have been busy working away on the Windows 10 Beta Version of Minecraft adding more and more mechanics to the game. Some of us here at Xbox One UK are serious minecrafters, so this “friendly update” – as it’s been dubbed – is welcomed with open arms. The update brings several complex mechanisms to the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft – like pistons (and the Sticky ones, too) – but other features like pig riding and horse armor will be included. Pig riding is a must – how else would you get around? Take a look at some of the features in action with … Read More »

Blues and Bullets has returned with its second episode Shaking the Hive, and still has us wondering what the hell is going in the city of Santa Esperanza. Developer A Crowd of Monsters continues to spin its web of mystery, engaging players through the tough moral choices that need to be made. Recap: Blues and Bullets is the story of an older, wiser and retired Eliot Ness, one time head of the Untouchables – a team of specialist law enforcement officers tasked with enforcing Prohibition in late 1920s and early 1930s America. When children suddenly start to disappear and the police just … Read More »

DiRT Rally finally power slides on to Xbox One. Have Codemasters gone back to DiRT Rally‘s original roots, back to its origin Colin McRae Rally? Its been a few years since we have seen the DiRT franchise in the gaming world; the last version of DiRT was DiRT Showdown back in 2012. (This is also backwards compatible on Xbox One). DiRT Showdown had an entirely different focus, asking you to get to grips with the stylish gymkhana, alongside head to head racing and Demolition modes. After Colin McCrae was killed in a helicopter accident, Codemasters continued to work on the game … Read More »

Ever wanted to defy the laws of gravity and preform stunts you can only dream of doing? TrackMania Turbo will fulfill that desire. This incredibly popular PC franchise makes its way to console for the first time. Ubisoft announced an Xbox port at E3 in 2015, then delayed it just a few months later when everyone was getting ready for the game to land. Happily for racing fans the game is now out with an offering on par with its PC brethren. Trackmania Turbo is all about speed. Insane amounts of ridiculous, blistering speed. It’s a time attack racer, competing with your … Read More »
