After the announcement trailer for Rage 2 landed yesterday, publishers Bethesda have provided us with the gameplay reveal that was promised alongside the announcement trailer today. Developed by Id Software (the team who brought us Doom and Quake), the latest trailer showcases a Mad Max style post-apocalyptic world spattered with vibrant neon colours, stylish mohawks and ludicrously over-the-top action with chaotic driving and fast-paced shooting. The trailer boasts a wide open world, insane action, and an arsenal of weapons. The original Rage was a critically acclaimed, visually stunning story-driven shooter released in 2011 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. As of time of writing, there is no … Read More »

Football fans woke up this morning to the a brand new announcement trailer for Pro Evolution Soccer 2019. While Konami‘s answer to FIFA hasn’t seen the same sales figures as EA’s flagship footie game recently, the newest PES title could potentially be a turning point for the franchise. Although there is still little known about the game at the moment, the latest announcement revealed that Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho will take centre stage on the game’s standard edition artwork whilst David Beckham will appear on the special edition of the game, and, from the looks of the trailer, will be playable in this edition. Rockstar Games announced earlier this week that they would be dropping a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 today. Now that the third official trailer for the game has landed, we finally got a better look at what we could expect when the game releases on 26th October. The trailer opens with what could be Dutch’s gang (the group of rebels Red Dead Redemption protagonist John Marston left in the original game) attempting to rob a train before cutting to Arthur Morgan, the character introduced in the previous trailer, telling a woman that “we’re more ghosts than people”. It’s at this … Read More »

First releasing back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V is still as popular as ever, and has now made more money than any other video game, book, or film. Even with developer Rockstar‘s next game Red Dead Redemption 2 on its way, GTA V‘s online component still receives continuous updates, and now it appears Rockstar want to entice new players to the virtual world of Los Santos with the announcement of a Premium Online Edition of the game. Despite what the title suggests, this is the full blown GTA experience that includes the critically acclaimed single player as well as the online mode. The aim of … Read More »

Owners of the Xbox One X console will most likely be aware of it’s ability to utilise AMD’s FreeSync 2.0 technology to get smoother refresh rates on their favourite games. Those in Microsoft’s preview programme have been able to test this feature since the start of the month, but now this technology has been put under the microscope by Eurogamer, and, though the technology is still in its early stages, their tests point to a promising future for Microsoft’s console and the future of gaming technology. First of all, the tech stuff. What is FreeSync 2.0, and how can you … Read More »

Let’s face it, video games are expensive and take up a lot of our time, and with trivial things like work, family, friends, and general hygiene getting in the way, finding this time to sink into our pastime can be tricky. Likewise, a majority of AAA titles these days tend to abide to the mantra “if it’s not broke don’t fix it”, which, in turn, means we don’t see much innovation within the yearly release titles. All hope is not lost, though. Thanks to some incredibly inventive and pioneering game designers, we also have a large selection of indie titles … Read More »

Developed by the small six-person team at Threye Interactive, indie puzzle platformer Switch – Or Die Trying does exactly what it says on the tin: switch between a small and large character in order to navigate brutally difficult levels where you will die, a lot. Whilst the level of unforgiving challenge presented here will undoubtedly be of interest to some, the clunky and unintuitive controls prohibit this quirky indie title from being anything other than tedious. At first glance, the level design is adorably charming. Each of the five worlds have their own distinctive art and sound design from a Stranger Things-esque forest … Read More »
