Xbox Live Rewards Ending 31st May 2018

From June 2018 the much loved Xbox Live Rewards will sadly be coming to an end.  This rewards program gave you Xbox rewards each month dependent on gamer score points earned during the month and points could be spent on games, DLC and in game purchases.

Not to worry though!  This rewards program will be replaced by Microsoft Rewards.

Why, you ask?

Well Microsoft Rewards has a larger umbrella and consolidates all Microsoft products under this one rewards scheme. This makes it easier to surf your point purchases from one medium to another under the Microsoft product options.  Everything from games, apps, movies, TV, all purchases made through the Microsoft Store and even Bing searches while you are logged into your Microsoft account will earn points!  Sweet!

Points can be redeemed against most Microsoft products and services.  This will certainly make things a lot easier and gives you more flexibility as to where you can spend your points.

What do I need to do?

The change will take place on 31st May 2018.  Any points you currently have unspent on Xbox Live Rewards or MyVIP Gems will be transferred automatically into your local currency and deposited into your Microsoft Rewards account by the end of June 2018.  1 Xbox live rewards and MyVIP point will equate to 1 Microsoft Awards point.  Like for Like.

I’m also afraid you will have a time limit on the time to spend these, being 1 year.  That’s not too bad folks – Just don’t forget! Set a reminder!

When does it start?

Microsoft Rewards will be coming online on the 15th of June 2018. If you are already an Xbox Live Rewards subscriber, you will receive an email closer to the time outlining and detailing what is happening, so keep an eye on your inbox folks.
