Microsoft’s New Avatars Will Launch In April

Microsoft is launching its new Xbox Live Avatars next month. They first revealed the change to the avatars at their E3 press conference last year and were originally planned to become available to Windows 10 users by the end of 2017, but they missed the deadline.

Microsoft’s Xbox employees already have access to the new avatars and Xbox Insiders will be able to preview them this month.

The new avatars will be fully customizable from body type, clothing, and props. The focus on diversity trailer was a welcome change it showed an amputee, wheelchairs, playful costumes, skateboards, and even motorbikes.

The new avatar system and the characters will be available on the home screen area. A new avatar store will also be released in May, allowing everyone to purchase clothing and additional customizations for their avatars.
