Two JRPG Titles Heading To Xbox One This Year
It looks as though Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has stayed true to his promise to gamers after he paid a visit to Japan last year to meet with developers and publishers to try and rectify the lack of eastern games on the console.
With Monster Hunter: World gaining worldwide success, this proves to Japanese developers that we very much would like to see their titles ported over to the Xbox console. And hot off the heels from the Monster Hunter success comes not one, but two announcements regarding upcoming JRPG titles:
Shining Resonance Refrain
It’s been over twenty years since the last game was released, and we’re talking about the Mega Drive era. For those that remember, the games were called Shining Force over here in the U.K. Shining Resonance Refrain was originally released on PlayStation 3 back in 2014 but this HD remaster is due to release sometime this summer.
Ys Origin is another remaster. Originally released in English in 2012 and then again released for PlayStation 4 last year, developer and publisher DotEmu decided it was time to stop Xbox owners & JRPG fans suffering and have announced that Ys Origin will be released this spring.
Don’t forget, that there’s a brand new JRPG-inspired title arriving on Xbox One sometime this year. Regalia: Royal Edition was announced in December last year after surpassing its kickstarter campagin.
Battle Royale might be all the rage at the moment, but there are plenty of JRPG fans out there that have been crying out for these games to come to the Xbox console for a long time. With Kingdom Hearts 3 on the horizon, we may still see plenty more eastern titles arrive on Xbox One.
