Community Test Environments, or whatever synonym that developers decide to use for their game, are a staple of PC gaming, giving players the chance to test out upcoming patches and features, whilst giving the dev team a chance to eliminate bugs before the update is released upon the masses.
EA have announced that Battlefield 1’s Community Test Server will be coming to the Xbox One, allowing console players to test upcoming features in the same way that PC players can, whilst also providing feedback to DICE so they can keep improving the game.
You can register via the Battlefield 1 main menu, but of course not everyone can simply join the CTE. It’s only available to those who have purchased the Premium Pass. Also, like most closed beta style tests, registration does not guarantee entrance. The small print on the Battlefield website also says that “ACHIEVEMENTS, CHARACTERS, CHARACTER DATA AND/OR ANY OTHER VALUE OR STATUS INDICATORS ACHIEVED IN THE CTE WILL NOT TRANSFER TO BF1 MAIN GAME.”
Will you be signing up for the CTE, or are you content with the regular version of Battlefield 1? Fire off in the comments below!
