4 Halo Games Becoming Backwards Compatible Later This Year

Good news for anyone who has all the Halo games on Xbox 360 but never got around to buying the Master Chief Collection: you’ll be able to play them via your Xbox One and backwards compatibility later this year.

As part of Halo’s Summer Celebration, developers 343 Industries have announced that Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be joining the extensive roster of backwards compatibility titles.

To sweeten the deal, these games will include LAN play between Xbox 360 and Xbox One players, and all DLC packs will be made free for each game. Anyone looking for the last couple of multiplayer achievements on Halo 3 should be happy with this news.

No details on a release time have been given yet, but the team will be demoing Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST running on Xbox One at the upcoming RTX event in Austin, Texas. Are you excited for this news? Sound off in the comments!
