Xbox’s Major Nelson has officially announced that the Xbox Game Pass service which was revealed in February, has gone live today for Gold subscribers.
As is customary, Nelson took to twitter to reveal the news of the service. Also confirmed is the availability for all Xbox players from June 1st. The game pass is a subscription based model which will set you back £7.99 a month which is slightly less than what analysts may have been predicting. And significantly lower priced than the similar Playstation model, PS Now.

There are currently over 100 games to start off the service which range from big Xbox One hits such as Halo 5, to backward compatible Xbox 360 games and indie titles. The service itself differs to PS Now in that you download the games to your system, as opposed to streaming the content directly. This should be a welcome move for any of us restricted by lower internet speeds.
To get you started with the Xbox Game Pass service, Microsoft are offering a 14-day free trial to allow us to get a taste of what it’s all about. You can check out full details and the list of games available at launch over on Major Nelson’s Blog. Or you can check out the video below:
It’s safe to say there’s a large choice so far. Some we have seen previously with the free Games with Gold service which will undoubtedly frustrate some. There will however be new games added each month. With such a great choice to begin with, it’ll be interesting to see where they take the service. Stay tuned to Xbox One UK for the latest news and updates to the Xbox Game Pass service.
