Xbox’s Phil Spencer has just dropped some big news. Microsoft will be introducing an Xbox One Game Pass in Spring 2017.
For a monthly subscription, currently slated as $9.99 for the US, you will be able to choose from over 100 games to download. Whilst similar in nature to the Playstation NOW service, Xbox Game Pass has one major difference. With NOW you pay your subscription and stream games. With the Xbox Game Pass, you will be able to download them directly to your Xbox. Spencer said; “that means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues.”
Furthermore, if you wish to purchase the game to become a permanent part of your library, Microsoft are to offer exclusive discounts to subscribers, including game add-ons. Select members of the Insider program will be able to test out the service from today. Xbox One UK’s News Editor Stephen Loftus has confirmed access through the preview program (below). Whilst Gold subscribers will get exclusive early access before the launch.
Games coming to the Game Pass library include Halo 5: Guardians, NBA 2K16 and Fable 3. We’ll bring you a full list as soon as it’s released. But Spencer has said we can expect games from at least the following companies including 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SEGA, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Studios. You can check out more details on for the Xbox Game Pass on the Official Xbox site.
Currently there are around 20 games available for Preview members. Let us know if you’re going to check it out. What are your initial thoughts on the Xbox Game Pass? Shout out in the comments below!
